Yes these rust and get sloppy way to soon.Scary.I found the older YFZ rod ends have same taper and same thread. So I bought 3 and tried them out. This is preliminary because its obvious there is a geometry change.I am no Engineer so I have no idea what effect this will have maybe less bumpsteer maybe more. The stock nuts also dont clear the cotterpin hole enough so either do like I did or get Castle nuts. Also because these stick out more the hole in bulkhead has to be clearanced.Important!I marked the area in white. Will keep you all informed once I get it all done but I believe toe will be able to be set without shorter rods.I will tell you what. These YFZ ends will not wear out. They are sealed and greased unlike the stock ones which are wide open to contamination.I believe I am on track to the tightest steering Phazer ever thanks to these,Up Bushmans kit,NCI's lower joints,Ulmer bushings and grease fittings everywhere.Check it out and let me know what you think please.I left original little one on for comparison.

Your Phazer knowledge and expertise never cease to amaze me. Thanks for the update on this. I might have to try this when mine wear out, because i'm not taking the bulkhead off the change them. I checked the part number, and it list all kinds of Yamaha ATVs. They are about $12 more than the stock Phazer ones, but that's completely worth it to me.

how about part numbers for both inner and the outer? looks like a great update!
Inner part# is pictured.Outer is a lefthand thread Hiemjoint which is not used on anything other than sleds. That is next on my list to find better.Lets just hope the bumpsteer isnt made worse or I will have to take front end off once again.I still am hoping someone with chassis design experience could tell me before I put bulkhead back on.Thanks for encouragement!

This is a sweet upgrade! The small amount you are moving it my guess is you will not notice it but my first take on how it will change the geometry is this: on the lower piviot point where the tie rod attaches it looks the the new end moves it out approx .250". So by moving this back it increase the angle of the tie rod to the spindle. Just looking at the right ski you have this installed on in the pics, the ski when you turn left the tie rod will not travel as far as stock and when you turn right the tie rod will travel a little farther then stock. Without knowing measurments i can't tell how much the difference will be and i am no expert steering geometry.
At the upper pivot point where you placed the other tie end as i remember this is at 90 degrees? So then it would not effect it.

So when cornering the inner ski will cut harder and the outer will cut less. And yes those zerks are close will have to look at mine good catch.

Hey bro let us know if this bothers anything geometry/ride wise. I recently found a bag in my shop of 4 brand new 04-05 YFZ tie rod ends.
I think you guys need to know that the tie rods and ends are different between 04-05 and 06 and up Yamaha YFZ450 quads. Correct me if Im wrong but the end in your pics look like the 04-05 style.....right?
Oh also you can get them very cheap on ebay.

I think you are correct.Less Ackerman effect. If so might help high speed stability. But might feel more at bars.I am betting the zerks will get a bit banged up.Shouldnt matter. They are cheap. Now we have bump stops! Thanks
Yes 04-05 joints.Broke one pictured is one off old YFZ.Dang trees!
Also it has to be the inners since they are right hand thread.Part# is pictured.

Cool didn't know there was a term for it! It should definitely help in the tight twisty trails!
