Latest TY Tech Video. Removable Lower Panels.

I'm sure most have discovered as I did that using the proper "grip range" rivnut is key in certain places where the metal is thicker (frame) or double layers, the short grip range rivnuts won't crimp over properly in thicker locations and can pull out. Not sure if these rivnut kits come with...

    Gap Flasher Issues

Thanks fatchance and other replies, I don't have the dash flash, just the GAP module with tune bundles loaded. Was just thinking it might be wise to keep it concealed and pull it out as needed. I run SM tune bundle at 240 primarily, and it suits me just fine for an old(er) guy with a healthy...

    Gap Flasher Issues

Side note/question, if you do not change flashes often, can the GAP flasher be removed from harness for storage to keep it out of the elements and install as needed to change tunes? I assume it is only a communication device to the ECU and the ECU doesn't depend on it to run the sled correct? TIA

Taking the Winder out 1st time after pronouncing it fixed!—Strong NO!

Kinger: 18 LTX manual states coolant capacity is 5.8 US Quarts. Not sure either if BTX exchangers are same or longer though

    APEX FRONT DRIVE SHAFT WALKING

Agreed ^and in addition, the front suspension swing arm should be bolted in place before tightening the set screws on the left side axle bearing collar, as the suspension swing arm sets the tunnel pitch/width dimension, you don't want the tunnel putting side load on that bearing.

Barn of Parts Cross Shaft Saver/ RR upgrade

Sab2020: Cross shaft holds front of suspension swing arm in place with the 2 x U-shaped brackets, so the suspension doesn't necessarily need to be completely removed to get the shaft out, just dropped down and back after removing torsion spring tension and rear suspension mounts, (not sure if...

    Driveshaft Saver...What's your experience?

New drive shaft and Nachi bearing here. Bearing to shaft fit was a nice slip fit. (maybe .001" clearance). Tested on the bench with BOP saver, and at around 16 ft/lb the shaft to bearing was snug could not move by hand. Knowing this, when re-assembling, I torqued to 20-25 ft/lb knowing this...

    Admin delete please

Sounds like symptoms similar to my buddies 06 Apex sled started acting very much the same as you describe above. Back firing on decel, and if not on the flipper somewhat coming to a stop, it would stall, then start right up and be fine. Idling issues same as you describe. He swapped out all...

    Jackshaft Bearings

The jack shaft bearing behind the secondary is a Koyo specialty bearing made just for Yamaha I believe, if you get the 6206-2RS C3 from a job shop or similar, the ID @30mm will be too large, so unfortunately you will need to order from dealer/Yam. Has to do with the ID of the Secondary clutch...

    Is this freeken normal?

Nope, not freekin normal, throw that Peer bearing in the garbage. My old Peer had double seals as yours should have had per the part number on the seal. I found that the drive axle bearing in the chain case was also Peer, but no seals of course, I replaced with a Koyo. The top jack shaft...

    Tear down

Yamamarc: How big of a job is it to get to the clamps on the throttle bodies? They look to be buried in there deep. Also, approx how much did or do you plan to remove from the spacers? TIA

Barn of Parts Driveshaft Saver....Bearing Lock

Subscribed! Observation: Travis held the drive shaft with his left hand to torque the wedge in place, but the handy flats on the device meant for an open end wrench to oppose the torque when tightening is great idea for the lone wrenchers out there without 4 arms! Great R&D project Travis!

    Can you imagine this?

Also pulled chain case apart and noticed a crapper load of brass/bronze colored flakes. Sled has 4,000 kms on it now. Turns out the bushing in the top reverse gear was worn badly, like 20thou oversize! Also no holes drilled through the bushing that are in the gear. Lots of guys having this...

Flash w/3 bar map sensor or not?

Its my understanding Hurricane now tailors their tune bundles (Stock Muffler and Performance) for a 3 bar sensor, maybe in the earlier tune generations they didn't, but recently they have been recommending 3 bar, especially for stock muffler tunes. If you have a recent tune bundle set up to...

    Ski Toe

I have Pilot 5.7's and run a total toe out measurement of 1/4". (Pilots have a handy spot molded into the ski to take measurements from forward and aft of the spindle mounting)
