No one has mentioned trail tire wheel alignment. Tires should be towed in approx. 1/8" to 3/8" and also closer together at bottom than at top ( cant remember if that is camber or caster ). If tires are not aligned properly it will sway no matter what else you do.

Some time ago there was discussion about these snap rings. From memory they said you have to work on them till you get them out and then drill your own small holes for the next removal.

Couple other things : There use to be an oil pan drain plug repair that was a rubber thing that you stretched with a rod, pushed it though the hole and when you removed rod it swelled on both sides the hole. I know, a poor explanation.
