    06 VK Professional clutch parts

I've not dove in just yet- I picked up a new to me crossover machine and I just finished going through that, giving it a full run through on general maintenance and getting it running extra nice. I plan to get to the VK Pro around the end of this month. In the meantime I do still run it close to...

    06 VK Professional clutch parts

I have the same machine and believe I may need to do the same procedure. Do you happen to still have part numbers and quantities?

06 vk pro rear wheel issue

I saw that the new part number ends in -10, from which I assumed Yamaha has upgraded them a number of times. Perhaps not 10, but ‍who knows.

06 vk pro rear wheel issue

My wheels are identical to those in your pic. I'll look into kimpex and barn of parts. Good beta on the aluminum. I would prefer replaceable bearings. I can't say whether the original owner ever greased these bearings, but the overflow I rode through probably accelerated the failure. I'm new to...

06 vk pro rear wheel issue

Haha, yes walking can be a challenge! Thx for the tips @maim! The outsides are identical. 2006 VK Pro I bought with only 1200 miles. Original owner used it only for ice fishing, about 100 mi total per year. I'm beginning to find more and more issues. I doubt he put much upkeep into it, from...

06 vk pro rear wheel issue

But first, left rear idler wheel fell off (in my driveway, luckily). Will need to check and grease all bearings and replace this wheel I think. Looks like the original wheels are integral with bearings, but newer ones may have separate bearings. Thanks again gentlemen.

Starter, Gears and One Way Clutch Inspection

Red loctite on, all back together and about 150 miles on the VK since then. A bit if extra rattle noise, sounds like maybe from the clutch side, that I'll need to dig into further. But first, left rear idler wheel fell off (in my driveway, luckily). Will need to check and grease all bearings and...

Starter, Gears and One Way Clutch Inspection

Also, I'm just baffled at those bolts backing out. Not tightened down fully initially? Or no threadlocker? Or did the previous (and original) owner get in there and mess around then decide to sell without disclosing issues? Meh, only got about 30 miles of riding in before this thing tanked...

Starter, Gears and One Way Clutch Inspection

The backed off allen-head bolts on the outer ring of the one-way clutch gave that outer ring a beating. Also pounded the spokes on the flywheel starter gear. That must be what finally did enough damage to shear the bolts off. Also, perhaps because the backed off bolts placed pressure on...

Starter, Gears and One Way Clutch Inspection

Impact was the ticket. Thanks for that! Didn't even need air, my 18v cordless was plenty. Had my crow bar ready just in case. New parts on order. Allen head bolts that broke off seemed to have backed out of the flywheel part way. Is it ok to use threadlocker in this oily space when I put it...

Starter, Gears and One Way Clutch Inspection

Seems I'm in sort of similar straights with my 2006 VK10L/VK Professional. Had the same whirring sounds in the end, but never any grinding to begin with. I replaced starter first, no fix, and teeth okay, so I pulled the side cover off. The stock idler gear is perfect. However, 3 Allen head bolts...

    VK Pro Starter

I just replaced the starter on my 2006 VK Pro too. Yup, lots of time figuring how to get that one out! I think I could do the exchange in 2 or 3 hours, now that I know. Problem not solved in the end, still spins without engaging, so I'll go after the idler gear and related components next. I...
