I wouldn’t blame anyone for going to a different sled. I bought a brand new SS440 in 1982 and have owned nothing but Yamaha since. After many great sleds over the years, this is the first time I have second guessed my brand loyalty. Sometimes I think I should have stuck with an Apex. They are...
Those are the exact weights that are working for me. I have Powertrail tune with SQ exhaust and CAI, so right around 270 hp according to TD. Black/bronze primary spring, black/orange secondary spring wrapped to 6-2 and stock helix.
With the 8JP I needed 7.4 grams in QAY70’s to get the RPM...
By Dalton 70G do you mean QAY70? If so, here is a copy of the instructions that I have and they can also be downloaded from the Dalton website. I’m surprised this page wasn’t included in your kit. About half way down the page in bold and underlined text it says to never put the 1” weight in...
I’m running a TD SQ exhaust with the stock heat shield. I just wrapped it tight around the exhaust a pop riveted it using the holes on the outer part and just drilled the inner half so the rivets are in the right locations. I also shoved some of the insulation in a few spots to keep it from...
My sled was over heating a lot when it was new. I made sure my coolant was good for -40 and I took some coolant out and added Red Line Water Wetter. It has been running cooler since I did that.
There was a thread from about 4-6 weeks ago on spark plugs. It’s probably back a few pages now. I’m not sure if this link will work.

I doubt polarity would matter for the visor itself. My concern would be the connections. If the center is positive it would be protected and be less likely to short out. Here is a picture of my factory plug. If the outer ring was positive it could be easier to short out. I would make sure the...
Travis posted a great installation video back on post #224. That worked perfectly for me. Grease the 3 sides of the wedge where they meet the fingers, the bolt threads and under the bolt head (don’t use too much if your worried about it getting on the brake rotor). By doing this, there will not...
I torqued mine to 35 ft lbs like most of the guys on here. It started to grip the bearing at 30 ft lbs but I took it to 35 and the bearing was tight on the drive shaft. The brake rotor still had a little play so I left it there. I also left it out just enough to get a thin wrench on if needed...
Yes, Travis developed a fix that plagues all of our sleds. This is a huge deal and he deserves a big thank you. Mine was showing signs of wear but it wasn’t too late and the Driveshaft Saver fixed it.
Also, I have no plans to buy a Doo - like ever. If I did, I would be on Doo Talk bragging...
Here is a chart that Ben posted a while back and I think it’s still accurate.
I run Powertrail with TD CAI and SQ exhaust. It’s a very solid tune that’s been around for a few years. It will run 87 octane in a pinch but I have never needed to. Great power, never seen a knock light, improved fuel...
