Anyone done a valve adjustment on a 2016 Vector?

That may be true for some dealers but the SM Spprt in Quebec City were amazing! Stood behind their product well after the factory warranty was over and even allowed me to have it fixed at a local shop while they covered the cost. Other than trail.side assistance, not sure what else I could...

Anyone done a valve adjustment on a 2016 Vector?

The yamaha tech told me he has only done a handful over all the years the 1049 has been out. Valve adjustment is done and the sled runs like a champ... Did just over 300KM today and it ran flawlessly. Have.had a couple of stone cold starts without issue as well.

New 2021 Venture - Starting Question

As the others have said, get at least one good run on it before you worry too much. Depending on how long the fuel has been in it maybe a bit of conditioner to ensure there is no moisture. Hopefully just a bit of carbon buildup on the plugs from not getting up to full temp and hard run will fix...

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

UPDATE: So got the sled back today. Tech left it parked in unheated shed over night so was good and cold. Started up first fine as usual. Then idled perfectly, no stalls, surges or sputters. Took it for a quick blast up and down the lake did some hard brake applications and couldn't get it to...

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

I was there to see him check. 5 out of 6 valves require adjustment. He said the problem with this job is the exhaust has to be removed since it is rear exit. Which requires tank and seat to be removed.

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

He was able to open the cover enough to check the clearances. Removing it is a huge job as there is apparently a sadist in charge of design over at Yamaha!

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

I think warranty is 2 years and the machine is 5 years old so would be a bit much to expect. I'm a new owner to this machine. The tech tells me that this has probably been a worsening problem for quite some time so maybe had they gotten it looked at sooner it would have been done under factory...

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

He said similar. Also said he can only remember a handful of them ever needing an adjustment at all.

Anyone done a valve adjustment on a 2016 Vector?

Anyone following my other thread on my machine's idling issues has seen that the problem has been located. The exhaust valves are out of adjustment and being held partially open which is causing the issue. According to one Yamaha dealer this is a 14 hour job, and the other dealer is saying it...

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

So had a Yamaha Tech take a look at the machine; good news is he found the problem. Bad news is, its a huge job. Looks like the exhaust valves are all out of adjustment. Flat rate calls for 14 Hours. The entire top half of the machine as well as the cross member have t be removed to access...

    2016 Vector stalls at idle...

Good news; 1 hour and a skinned knuckle later I got the plugs changed. As you guessed they were not replaced. Heavily carbon crusted and tops showing a bit of corrosion. Bad news; still not wanting to idle...

How to change plugs on a 2016 Vector

Well that was the most absurdly complicated process to change a set of plugs that I have seen outside of Jag dealership! But they are done. Good for another 16K

How to change plugs on a 2016 Vector

I took a quick peak at the location of the plugs on this machine. Thanks a lot Yamaha!! Lol Anyone give me an idea of how much has to come off to get at them? Still having idle issues after first treating and then running all the old gas out. Have run about 180KM trail and another 40KM high...
