Thanks kmer and leeko. You guys were in sync tonight! Two urls, same cool microfiche.
kmer, your sig says 23/40 gears, but the fiche says 38 or 39 tooth driven. Is yours aftermarket? Source?
lakercr, thanks for the cool pics. It looks like those cams ride on bare aluminum. Did you notice any wear or scoring? How many miles are on the motor? How did the piston tops and combustion chamber look?
I'm surprised they put CVs on the R1. I wonder if the Keihin FCRs were a common upgrade. But what I am really wondering is if the R1 EFI is easily adaptable to the RX-1.
Snow Fever, thanks for the very cool thread. It's been a month now since your last post. Have you tested it yet? Or are you waiting for snow to fly?
A note about the CV springs. If you cut coils out of the spring, you will reduce the preload, but the spring rate will go up. If anyone...
AFAIK, the R1 had flat side carbs (Keihin FCR?), not the CV carbs on the RX-1. Plus, I think the R1 head is a down draft design, and the RX-1 is a side draft. Correct me if I am wrong though.
If you can't tell I was kidding, you must be dumb. j/k
I just want to know how the reverse works mechanically, like does the output shaft to the drive pulley turn at the same speed in forward and reverse.
Oh, and that was 135 kph.
Can someone please describe the reverse gear function on the RX-1? Is it the same ratio as the forward gear? Is it as strong as forward? Will the sled go 135 mph in reverse?
Thanks.
