Slydogs
Kabuta, I didn't try the sly dogs but I did try the Simmons for several hundred miles and didn't like them at all on the attack. Steering became very heavy with the simmons (way to much ski preasure). I made several adjustments to take weight off the skis and still didn't like the...
RTX
I think he would be better off finding a used RTX for the mid $7000 range with updates like clutching, studs, belt, cover, etc... and selling his Nytro outright. Just a thought!
L8TR
06 RTX
Yep - I think the price is a bit high on the RTX (my 07 was only a few hundred more)! Definately should be able to work a better deal on a year old sled. If you do the deal make them include the 07 style handle bar update as the heaters suck!
07
VX7R - That was one heck of a Viper you built - I'm sure your next project will turn out just as sweet!
Side note - I have a Polaris XCR800 edge, 136" conversion that I built and I will say this. Besides the mileage, seating posistion and simplicity of the 4 stroke the XCR/edge kicked the...
07
VX7R, I did actually drive both of the sleds you mentioned and prefered the RTX ( I ordered a 07 RTX). Had a 06 Attack last year and it was way to soft for my riding style. I too plan to stretch the RTX to 136". I think you'll be happy with the floats, I felt the front shocks on the Attack...
07's
Well I'm going to inheret the 07 changes because I ordered a 07 RTX - the Attack I had was just to soft for my style of riding and I was hoping they would have some of the 06 short falls fixed on the 07's. The speedo thing is totally BS for todays standards.
XCR5
07's
If they're delivering these things in June already it doesn't give me alot of confidence that they've addressed to many of the issues with the sled. ie - bad wheels, handwarmers, chaincase and the damn MEGA inaccurate speedos... :o|
I wasn't a fan of the hard plastic wheels they put in...
Apex
Difference in opinions then. All I can say is I rode my XCR800/Edge over the same big rollers and jumps the next day and it landed ALOT nicer then the Attack (the Attack slamed/bottomed hard). The Attack rode better over chop but the XC kicked it's #*$&@ in the big hit department. Just my...
Apex
They handle most trail conditions just fine - however high speed deep rollers and launching the sled off the top of big rollers can send you to the chiropractor in a hurry. I do think it handled the chop better then my XC, just didn't come close to the XC in big bump/jump capabilities. The...
Polaris convert
See my post "spent a week on attack".
http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php?t=26712
I'm a Polaris convert also - well not totally I still own my Polaris. In a nut shell - it's a nice sled but it's not perfect by anymeans. Read my post and others on here and you'll see...
No top end
Weltracer - your not alone on top speed. Both the Apex's I rode last week topped out at speeds similiar to yours. I mentioned in one of my other post that the sled pulls hard but doesn't really impress me as far as top end goes. It is what it is...

Attack
LazyBastard, let me start out by saying I haven't owned a Yamaha since 97 but I'm very familiar with snowmobiles.
I figured I had some rolling resistance in the skid that's why I loosened the track considerably but saw no improvement - I dissagree that this is common in all sleds as...
Attack
I could see that under hard breaking but we were going very slow when this happened. I do agree the belt was probably down in the secondary, clutching really seems wacked on the sled...
Attack
Did read the post - however needed to experience the sled before going out and making changes.
Big Boy spring - Why the difference in the ER I rode? Didn't bottom this sled in softer settings???
If I keep the sled I will be trying the SlyDogs (tried the simmons first).
Lifting...
Attack
Well when I did this sleds weren't set up the same ie. the attack was running Simmons skis and had picks - the ER was bone stock. I prefered the lighter feel in the front end of the ER with the stock skis but didn't like the twitchyness. Performance and handling when both had stock skis...
Well I just got back from a week long trip on my new Attack and have some mixed reviews. When I took delivery of the sled I was checking the belt deflection and noticed when running the sled on a jack stand sometimes the belt wouldn't come back to the top of the secondary??? Sled would squeel...
