    Ride report 2006 Apex GT

I bet dollars to donuts that the weight distribution is better on the Apex, and after you factor in the better riding position, the Apex will actually feel lighter than the SRX.

New Attak. New twist!**EDIT 4 - "fat boy" mono spr

I'm not sure what all this fuss is about over the skis. They look identical to the skis that Yam has been using for the past 3 years. I wonder if it has more to do with the windshield? Great pics btw..... ;)!

    headlight covers

I'm not a fan of headlight covers. In many states, they're illegal, and for good reason. Screw the cosmetics, to me its about safety and being seen.

    First ride on my GT

I would have to mirror those comments. I know alot of the boys are excited at getting their first miles, but it's usually in loose snow, with no base. Not the best evaluation of how a sled really handles. Get that sled in its element, and I think its gonna prove to be the finest all around...

    Engine Braking

To me, the engine breaking is a non issue. I've been riding/racing 4 stroke dirtbikes for years, so maybe I'm just used to it. The advantage, once you get used to it, is that you can drive deeper into the corners without needing the brake.

    Apex GT EFI Throttle Hesitation?

It also helps to have a load on the motor, i.e., real riding conditions.

    A Arm Protection

Does that come off without leaving a residue? Looks good for sure, but I've seen some of that stuff defeat it's own purpose, cuz eventually the wear shows on the protection, and unless the protection is easily removeable, what's the point? I used to use those PVC protectors on my a arms, but...

5-10 mph?! Sorry, I think not. Compared to what?

    2005 RX1 vs 2006 Apex

The stock shield on the RTX/GTs is a joke, I'll admit that. But I'm going to be changing out the stock low (useless) shield on mine, and swapping it for a med. or high shield for the north country rides this year. It should be ok.

Who do you guys as the best clutch for the Apex GT

A clutch kit won't void your warranty, unless you put it back together wrong. Why install one? Mostly for better accleration and backshift. Factory clutching is a one size fits all approach. There is always some performance left on the table. About the only possible downside of most "kits"...

    2005 RX1 vs 2006 Apex

You see it as harshness? Perhaps, but I see it as a realistic response to the some of the less informed comments, about a sled that is a radical improvement. Marketing? BNGs? I think not. The 06 has made huge changes, thats a fact. I would never describe an 05 as a dinosaur, I put 2500...

    Top end numbers

My RX1 radared at 114. I'll be quite surprised that a sled that puts another 8 hp to the track, and revs higher won't crack 120 on good conditions.

    2005 RX1 vs 2006 Apex

So I guess you have wind tunnel analysis to back up your findings? I made my REV quite comfy with a fixed mount mid shield, and I ride in Quebec where it's often below zero.

    2005 RX1 vs 2006 Apex

Me thinks that you know alot more of what you speak than someone else. I also have a REV in the garage, that I doubt I'll ever get rid of.

    2005 RX1 vs 2006 Apex

No, actually what lured them away was a chassis that finally gave them what SkiDoo gave them for the past three years, but with better leg room and the smooth 4 stroke power. Get your head out of the sand. If you think SkiDoo got to number one market share by just marketing, I have a sno-x...

    2005 RX1 vs 2006 Apex

First off, look around, you can probably find a new Apex for around 9gs. The RX1 is a great sled, and the new suspension was a huge improvement over the 04. But, the biggest difference between it and the Apex is the riding position, and it's a significant improvement. 4 inches higher and 6...

who is still waiting for an apex gt

I was told I got the last one at my dealer, and that it probably wouldn't be in until December.

    nightmare

This seems like much ado over nothing. I've found Yamahas to be screwed together more logically than any sled. That said, some disassembly's require a learning curve.

    Looking for "Freak"

I've been known as "freak" for several years on Ultimatesnowmobiler.com, but have to assume you mean a different one, as I don't have any Boss seats to sell.... 8)
