The fact it revs up when giving it choke would seem to indicate dirty carbs but as the OP stated, he just cleaned the carbs and even replaced jets/needle valves and such. That's why I suggested he check his in-tank filters as it's possible one or both are starting to disintegrate and...
Something else to check, knowing they were an issue on the 03-04 RX-1, are the coils as they are known to arc between coils and have led others to believe they had carb issues when in fact it was the coils. I had to replace two of mine and when doing so, ensured they were the superseded part...
Not sure if they could be related to your issue but something to check. They can be a PITA to get to but if you have one of those flexible grab tools, you can fish them out but you will find there is not much slack in the fuel lines to completely remove them from the tank. I also had to rebuild...
I have you checked the throttle free play to ensure it's not a TORS issue preventing the engine from reving up? Knowing the condition of my in-tank fuel filters when I replaced them on my RX-1, have you inspected yours to ensure they are not plugged/gummed up? When you had the carbs...
Nice job, had no idea you could paint the tunnel like that. I always hated how Yamaha would use the unfinished aluminum for their tunnels. Considering the amount of time I spend each year cleaning and polishing the tunnels on my Apex's (it's a labor of love :drink:), I would love to paint them...
The service manuals are in Adobe PDF format and are not scanned in pages of the actual service manual and yes, you can download for offline use to view them as you would any PDF document on your computer or mobile device. Although some may have the Yamaha watermark on the pages, the service...
I suppose if you were just going to leave the stock cross-over tube in place and not add the rear heat exchanger, then I suppose you could do without the tunnel extension. However, if wanting to add the rear heat exchanger, you need the new tunnel extension to be able to bolt to it. Not sure if...
I have the PDF instruction manual for the OFT Steering Relocate and although it does explicitly mention the throttle cable, it does not mention the brake cable. But like you pointed out, the riser could be binding the brake cable enough to partially engage the parking brake.
That's the piece. Why I still have this broken piece from my RX-1 is beyond me but this should provide you with an idea as to where to place that strip of trim:
My guess is that person you purchased it from did not remove the clip that would have been attached to the tunnel that's used to secure the tunnel bags. My 08 Apex has a tunnel bag but does not use the same snap buckle as yours but this gives you an idea as to what I'm referring
Well, look what I found. Not sure if this is what Redbeard is referring to but just ran with his rememberance of it being an older 1300cc Yamaha motorcycle. Stuck with the same year (2003) and only 1300cc was the Venture and low and behold...
I really wasn't thinking about selling them; at least not yet. I just wanted to point out what I found with the rubber boots on them. I still have to separate my good rack of carbs and not sure what I will find with the remaining T's other than the ones I know need replaced.
