Unfortunately, it wasn't something he made or sold; it was something that was on an XTX that he took in either to sell or part out; something that he had listed in his 'Aftermarket Goodies' post. When I saw them, I figured they were custom made so I jumped on them as I thought I would need them...
Both of those two tubes, the one on the carb and the one on the bottom of the air box, just vent to outside so, if anything, just get new sections of hoses to replace but do not think it's causing your no-start.
Some clean the carbs without removing the rack but I always found them easier to clean working on the bench. As you can see, the jets are very small and does not take much to clog them or for tarnish to build up:
RX-1's are not fuel injected so not sure why just turning the key would cause gas to be smelled. Furthermore, what do you mean you can hear the battery go? Did you mean to state that when you turn the key and the starter attempts to turn over the engine, it does not start and that is when you...
I purchased these from Travis (Barn of Parts) a few years back but just have never got around to installing them. Thought it was a nice alternative than using the rear tunnel.
Where Rock's hand warmers really shine is that the heat level is not controlled/based on RPMs like the stock ones are/were. In stock form, you could have them on full mode but be cuising at 6000-8000rpms and they would not get hot. With his kit, whatever setting you put them at, they will...
At one time, @Rockmeister provided a toggle switch to turn off the handwarmer but no one ever used it. Now when you use the handwarmer switch to attempt to turn them off (ie. no bars showing), it's actually the reverse and puts them into nuclear mode; I use this mode when starting out when...
My bad, I was thinking of the bearing on the other side; not one within the chain case. I would think if the bearing is OEM or equivalent with the same fit and tolerances, then maybe it is a bad one.
Makes you wonder if the bearing was ever pre-greased as they will rattle without any grease. I'd almost be inclinded to every so gently lift up the seal and inspect unless you're able to return/exchange.
Depending on fuel level, is it possilble it ran dry and/or the fuel pump has lost its prime? Here's a similar post where I comment about blowing into the gas tank vent line to re-prime fuel pump. Sometimes, if you just continue to crank, it will fire, but after cleaning the carbs in my RX-1...
Althought it's probably not a bad idea to replace all four of them, I would recommend doing what @maim suggested to first see if all or only some of the coils are arc'ing. I only had to replace 2 out of the 4 on my RX-1 and in doing so, ensured I ordered the updated ones; 8FA-82310-01-00.

Based on this post where it goes over the format of the Yamaha part numbers, the '01' difference you found between those two part numbers would in fact indicate a design change or revision to the original part and would appear to be what you want; the updated/stronger pivot arm.
