What a PITA! Is it because he melted the hyfax to the rail one time? Heat didn't help but maybe I was too cautious. Air chiseled them out far enough that I could put the sled in reverse and then strip them off.
New ones from Yamaha ($50 ea.!!!) sled on EZ enough. I used liberal amounts of...
Helping out a friend. Changing his hyfax on a 2014 Apex XTX. He did melt the hyfax to the track recently. I saw that his hyfax were just about worn out and offered to install new ones.
I've used this method for years: remove bolts holding on hyfax, spray down both sides of the rails with...
Will a 2013 Apex XTX have the....In the middle of the rail there is what I will call a 2 up block. White plastic block that can be flipped up when riding 2 up and flipped down when riding solo. If this is flipped up it stiffens the preload on the spring.???
This is a friend's sled that he just got.
Agree 100%! I've had a 14 Vector LTX (not the right sled for the trails I ride - too heavy and I couldn't get weight off the front end for it to turn how I wanted it to)) and an 18 Poo Pro S Rush 800. The Polaris spent more time at the dealer than on the trails. Got rid of it after one year...
VK - I TRY to help people on FB by steering them over here. I am by no means an expert on the Yam 4S sleds but being here and owning one for 17 years, I know I know a hell of a lot more than some people on FB. Just because they've owned a 2014 Viper for 2 years, they think they are experts on...
Sled is down.
03 RX-1. Bad clutch side jackshaft bearing. How does the old bearing come out? Is it like my 05 Vector that had the tapered bearing and the tapered leave that has to be tighter down?
Any help is most appreciated!!!!
edit - the jackshaft has a taped split sleeve like my 05...
I drilled out 2 rivets, hence the shiny spots...not referring to the edges though. The 2 holes where the 14mm bolts are were modified so I could slide the exhaust back farther to inspect the copper donuts.
Jeez........I've had the sled since new in 2005. I've had the seat/tank off several...
I had an exhaust clamp loosen up so I had to dig into the sled to get it fixed. If you look at the two pictures where I'm pointing at a rivet, they are loose. A total of 6 of the 8 rivets are loose.
I drilled two out figuring I'm going to re-rivet all the loose ones. But I can't see what two...
Hi Mike,
Still around on the old beater@! :) Almost 22K miles and the engine is still running strong! Watch for the thread on my exhaust system that I'll be creating in a minute.
