The first time I ever went into Bracebridge Yamaha I needed a plastic bogey wheel for a 700 V-Max. They didn't have one in stock so they took one off a showroom sled. Like I said; they had never seen me before. I do my own service but I have been buying all my parts there. Very easy to deal...
Not sure I understand. I just followed the video (which was a great help), cycling via the grip adjuster then key on to check the notch. Is there more to it than that?
BTW, at about 3800 kms or 2400 miles mine was still within the notch but ever so slightly to the right. How critical is it...
If there's no code on the dash, try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes then reconnect and try again. We had one that did give us a code after being 're-booted'.
Prolly the crank sensor which is part of the stator harness. Pretty common problem.
Should show a code but we had one that did not. Find a manual and you should be able to check resistance to diagnose it. For access, remove or move the oil tank, then remove the cover on the end of the...

Hey Jack-
What a coincidence, we just had an all night wrenching session to change the crank sensor on our '06, the night before leaving for Cochrane last week. 23,000 kms (14,300 mies) on the old one. And yes, the stator is OK.
Irv,
Try taking them apart before you buy a compressor. Shouldn't need it for the GYT fronts and I didn't need one for my ohlins electric rear. Not sure about KYB rear, might depend on what clip position you're in.
'06 had a 13mm bar so I just went ahead and put one on the 2011. Never even rode it stock, just assumed it was the wimpy 11mm and by the time I realized it was kinda late 'cuz I was almost done. All I know is this sled is flatter and more predictable in the twisties, which we have a lot of...
Stock bar on a 2011 is 12mm, not 11mm like the older ones. You won't feel as much difference as older sleds but they work well. My 2011 Standard has 13mm bar and front springs set as light s possible. With the newer spindles I like it better than my '06 GT.
update drive shaft
New shaft is too long. You shoud be able to cut it down on the speedo end. Then speedo bolt hole won't be deep enough. It should be possible to drill and tap it deeper.
I've never done it though.
Storage
Can't use a bag with 2011 and newer Apex. There are now 2 heat sinks up there; 1 for regulator and 1 for EPS. I just stowed my tow rope, jumper cables etc under them up front with no problems.
