Well, if you think it is a ring issue you wouldn't want to do the top end. You would want to put rings in and hone the cylinders.

I just did a Venture. What experience do you have as a mechanic? It isn't really any different than any other 4 stroke (car/truck) but there are a couple things to watch for. I am just off 421 and sr32. What is wrong that you need to pull the head?

Disconect the reverse linkage and unbolt the bellcrank from the chaincase. It won't swivel far enough to get the fork past the gear unless you do. Don't hammer or pry, no need to.

I have the Proaction in my 03 with Nytro shocks and springs. Also have Apex A-Arms, Vector Gt clicker shocks with Attak springs. Run Yamaha mid keel Skis with stock carbides. Sled rides great and handles the junk really good. handles and corners really good too.

Easy way to get the belt off is to hold the brake on and pull up and forward (towards the front of sled) on the belt. That will spread the sheves and then just work the belt off. Put it back on like Kvipre said.

Yamaha updated the chain tensioner on the early sleds. Check with a dealer or with Yamaha tech, I think it was a free upgrade.

The bulkhead is made of aluminum so welding would be the only choice to try for a repair. The proble with welding aluminum though is it softens it so it won't be as strong after welding and will probably eventually crack next to the welds. JB weld is a horrible idea. It isn't a structural glue...

The one on the Lt side is the right one. The washers you have on it are too thick, the std. washers are maybe .060 thick. I think if you get the right ones and replace the rt. rod end with a std. one you'll be good. The std. rod ends have the step to let them go into a higher angle and not bind.
