Found an easy way to remove my skid and drivers!

So I was working on my sled today, and I found a really easy way to remove my skid and drivers - just turn the sled upside down! It is way easier than trying to wiggle the skid in and out on a lift. BTW, does anyone want to buy a "gently used" Apex?

Is it bad to leave my motor without oil?

Actually, the dealer is somewhat correct. Yamaha has two filters, which are also shared with the R1 motorcycle. The "old" filter, which is the one used for the Apex, is larger than the "new" filter. Yamaha reduced the size of the filter due to space constraints on the R1, and chose to...

    lowering the apex ?

Niko, You can move the suspension up in the drop brackets 1", which would lower it a little. Also, since you are running the timbersled, you might be able to put spacers in the rear shock, to limit the range of motion, some of the shock rebuild place could do that for you. Another option...

    Another season

The tahoe area right now is cement, it was good last Thursday when I rode, and by Friday it got too warm and turned to cement - really not worth the effort to ride. Plus, I tore my shoulder last weekend, so I probably won't be riding for a few weeks at least. As far as the Apex, i've found...

    Another season

I would rather not talk about what I bought due to the site rules on here, but suffice it to say it is a lightweight mountain sled.

    Another season

Had my last ride for the season this past week - we got a foot of new snow, which made for quite good riding. The season was full of hits and misses - powder days like I have never seen before, and hard packed snow that wasn't worth pulling out the sled for. From my own riding perspective...

Who's making the new nytro track?

    TETHER

I had the arctic cat one, with the red rubber piece. They wear out pretty quickly and trap snow too easily, which makes the rubber part pop off when you least expect it. I'm going to repeat: oft rollover/tether. Best mod you can make to your sled. It'll save you a headache and maybe even an...

    Problem with M9 skis

Niko, I can't make it this weekend or next because i'm travelling, i've only been out once this year so far, it's been a pretty lame season for me. How are conditions? My friend who lives up their said the snow was so bad he went home.

    162" Boosted Apex

The 2.5" track you mentioned is either going to be a Power Claw or Challenger extreme, I would sell the track not cut it down, they are worth $$$. You can buy a 162" Maverick for next to nothing, that is a good track to cut down.

    162" Boosted Apex

The mountain sleds are geared and clutched way different, the skid is mounted further back, the track is all wrong. It won't turn like a flatland sled, it won't handle moguled out trails the same way. If the "lake" you are referring to is covered in several feet of powder and tilted 45...

    Barkbuster really loose

I'm having a bit of an issue with my front end - I turned new oilite bulkhead bushings and Aluminum A-Arm pins this summer on the lathe. When I assembled the sled, everything was really tight, much tighter than stock. My problem now is that I have excessive play in the barkbuster spindles due...

    Rolling Apex

Since the last time I posted on this thread a year ago, OFT racing has released a rollover valve for the Apex. I would recommend that anyone using an Apex in the mountains buy one immediately, it is the best possible insurance against everything posted in this thread.

Finally finished my Apex build for this year

I don't have any pics online yet, but I finally finished piecing together my sled after quite a bit of work this summer. Yesterday I had my first ride of the season, and the sled was fantastic with only a few minor adjustments needed. I think I must have removed more than 100lbs of...

Phazer stuck in reverse & no start

Sounds like the starter went out, I recall reading about how this was a problem on the '07, seems like their is a bolt in their that comes loose due to lack of loctite or something like that?

My Apex slider wear is absurd

Their is no miraculous cure for this problem. As the rider it is your responsibility to make sure that when you are riding, the skid is packed with snow. This keeps your Hyfax from melting. Most guys fire up their sleds, and head out full speed after a few seconds. This is the wrong thing to...
