I had a 2 up from that era, it was a 600 but I don't remember exactly what sled it was (it was a franken-sled that was built by me). but I bet it was the same 600 engine, and it ran phenomenally with a nice plush ride. That one was trouble free!
I like knowing this sled has no shelf like a 2 stroke has
I agree! Turning the key and going sledding FTW. I certainly look forward to the next few years knowing my Apex will still be as reliable as it is today (hopefully). Maybe the BNG's for 2020 will be enough to hook me into buying a new...
That would be a great reason! My children are still too young, but Im sure that day will come sooner than I think. A couple 2 strokes (older models) may be in order. God knows I have wrenched on 2 stroke Suzuki engines a bunch to keep my old t-cats on the trail, im sure working on them is like...
Voodoo and Thor are correct. Once you have gone through the exercise of removing all the parts to get to your oil filter a few times, its fairly easy but takes time. Im still undecided if Ill go with Oilites or the other ones, I have to read up on those nylatrons or whatever they are called.
Mine is getting like this too, Ill be looking into new bushings from Oilite or nylatron(?) I have already replaced all of them once with another set of OEM, but that was before I knew that the OEM were not so good, and get oblonged pretty easily.
I would start with the bushings, but I may get...
I plan on keeping mine as long as the maintenance and upkeep costs are manageable while reliability stays the same. Im not into trailside repairs like I was used to on my 93 T-Cat 900, I just want to turn the key and ride. I only have 2250 miles on my LTX GT, which is sad considering the past 2...
850 miles would've been great for me. I logged 250 miles for this year and last year (no sledding last year). My 09 Apex has 2800 miles on it, just broken in!
it was PERFECT. the weather was great, conditions were great, Hotel was pretty nice too. Got UP to Paradise around 2am sunday. Rode all day sunday (190 miles!) and took the loops up at the point Monday morning. The trails were as good as I have ever seen, groomed very well. Trails were flat...
Im heading to paradise tonight, looking forward to it even more after reading tha post! Im not sure i have it in me to do 300 miles in one day though. Im pretty worn out at 150 to be honest, but i hope to ride as many miles as possible sunday!
I agree. When I originally saw the prices of their gear a few years ago, I said "no way am I paying that much". But I did buy a pair of gloves ($100, Fusions) as an impulse buy at a show (Hastings, MI) as I definitely needed a new pair. Those gloves were worth every penny and they have lasted...
That's funny, I completely forgot to mention that I lost a registration sticker in less than a mile worth of riding. I got new stickers this year, and Im really careful about putting them on too. I used an alcohol swab after I pulled off the old one and before applying the new one. I went to...
I really like those mirrors, they look like they are meant to be there from your picture. I recently ditched my ROX handguards with mirrors because they hit my windshield during hard turns and the mirror part was useless because they were small and the vibrations would really affect the view for...
I owned a 93 900 triple thunder cat, and a 94 900 triple thunder cat, both were pretty fast sleds. I didn't ride them as much as aim them down the trail, lol. after the 94 torched a piston (again) the 93 blew the chain case apart on the same trip, I jumped ship. I got tired of switching out all...
I have the sinister version, not the aviators. but they do fog a little when I stop the air movement, but once you start moving the clear up very fast. I would say within 20 feet or less they are clear again. there is an accessory they make, which is a battery operated fan that mounts on the...
I have gone riding in -10F with my 509 gear and I was pleasantly surprised. Those goggles and helmet fit really well together, and with the Klim balaclava, I didn't notice any air leaks. I didn't have any red spots on my face or anything after the ride. Only issue was that the mouth cover on the...
My 509 goggle and helmet set up has been a great purchase. I never did like the Rox handguard and mirror setup. they hit the windshield limiting turning, the mirrors weren't all that useable, and they didn't block much wind at all. Anything made by Klim that I have purchased to replace old gear...
