Worrying about slides when your out riding is a horrible feeling. My brother bought a 2012 nytro and the slides looked thin so we replaced them the night before our MI trip with high performance slides. They lasted 150 miles and were completely worn down to the rails. We ended up replacing them...
I have a brand new pipe with all of the mounting hardware and instructions at home. I'll be away until the end of the week but I should be able to post a picture or pdf for you. Also, I am selling my brand new pipe if anyone is interested. Decided to keep it stock.
Honestly, this whole post isn't even about picking apart the Viper. It's more about Yamaha not having their sh*t together for the demo rides. Demo rides are supposed to be informative and get people excited about their new products.
I rode both the 141" and 129". The longer track was definitly nicer in the big bumps and didn't seem too much longer than the short track. After the ride I have been considering turning my rtx se in the xtx se.
I would have liked to know more information about production, performance...
First off, This is the biggest thing Yamaha has done since the intoduction into the 4 stroke market. I don't blame the demo guys for not knowing much about these sleds, but I think Yamaha could have done much better job on educating. Yes, I did ride the Viper...I thought the 141" rode really...
Why does Yamaha come out with a "revolutionary" sled and then have demo guys who don't know a damn thing about the sled!? In my opinion, if Yamaha doesn't step it up this will be the end of them making snowmobiles. Cat is getting the absolute best part of the deal, the Yamaha motors! And what...
The track was about as loose as it could be without ratcheting. It's weird how each sled is different as far as slide wear goes. My nytro did just fine with the slides too! The marginal snow kit in the front solved the issue on my brothers sled.
It was my brothers first ride with his 11 nytro. Replaced the slides before we left Lake Gogebic and by the time we got to Calumet the slides were wore straight through to the rail! We limped back to M&M Powersports were they were so gracious to let us borrow all the tools to change the slides...
Just installed Rock's booster for the Yamaheater. Did a little before and after testing. Before booster install the handwarmers were 109-113 degrees. After the booster install they were 158-162 degrees! They were frickin hot!
I run 144 down the middle with tud boy 9"shaper bars and I have no issues pushing through corners. I can still get the back end of the sled to get loose around the corners when I really hammer down. It's a perfect set up for the way I ride but i'm sure it would vary for different riding styles.
I think it's more about your understanding of shock settings. I run the EVOL X and have a pretty fair understanding of the shocks. I love them and it would be hard to go to anything else now. My point is there is a lot of adjustments and unless your willing and able to learn and adjust a lot...
You don't NEED to buy all the fancy Klim base and mid layers. As long as you're wearing a polyester type material that has good wicking properties and no cotton you will be just fine. Almost any clothing store will sell some sort of polyester base and mid layer clothing. Personally I have found...
