A liter off oil in less than 1000 miles seems excessive to me. Are you sure you’re not having oil drain into your air box through the vent line? I’ve had this issue in the past before I installed a roll over valve. Also the seal behind the primary clutch has a track record of leaking as well.
Do we need to have another discussion on exhaust donuts again? Really?
I was looking over some of my prior postings and found this response that I had on December 11, 2011 to the same subject:
I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade here, but why do we buy Yamaha snowmobiles? Engine...
So the latest update on the exhaust for my MTX:
Skinz changed the shipment date to mid January. I got this news just before the Christmas holiday and cancelled the order. The way this transaction was going so far, I had a vision of the order showing up at my door on the 4th of July! Have I...
This afternoon I just totaled 100 miles on the Simmons Gen 3 skis for the season so far, and I have to tell you I’m pretty happy with them. I was running Powder Hounds the past two seasons and the Gen 3 ski is keeping a smile on my face. I can’t see that they would perform better then the...
Guys, I don’t want to be the Scrooge here, but I think we have been down this road before! Are we running out of things to discuss about the Apex MTX? Let’s focus on things we have control over, such as aftermarket accessories, suspension/engine mods and super chargers for our Apex Mountain...
I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade here, but why do we buy Yamaha snowmobiles? Engine life, quality engineering and all around durability to name a few. I’ve read all the postings about copper exhaust donuts like the rest of us, and I was ready to pull the trigger on a set for my...
I don't want to offend anyone here, but this is the most Redneck tip I have seen on this site yet! What's next, Red Green moderating the Tech How-To page! Maybe we could get Larry the Cable Guy to write some clothing reviews on the new Team Yamaha Sleeveless Racing jackets as well.
That’s...
If it's really cold and the roads are dry I keep the cover off. Some things are just too pretty to throw a cover over. ;)! More often than not though I have her covered from the ski tips back unless I'm hauling with my Big Boy enclosed trailer.
It's pretty easy. Take off the seat and tank shroud and there should be 4 nuts and two screws holding the tank in place. There are two wire harness connections and 3 hoses. (I think I have the count right) One is a vent hose that should be connected by the left foot well. I would disconnect it...
Congratulations on winning your sled back! The easiest way to drain the tank, since I just went through this in the past few months, is to pull the tank off and turn it upside down! I tried siphoning the tank and that process just was not worth the time or effort. :o| When you have the tank...
I ran Powderhounds the last two seasons on my MTX. They seemed to give me better performance once I put a set of Shaper bars on them but still seemed to have some darting issues. This year I’m running a set of Simmons Gen 3 Flex Skis. With their multiple mounting options I’m hoping to...
