Can Push Turbo powered nytros be run at lower elevations? I live in Michigan, but also ride out west too. I want to get my feet wet in the boosted sled market, but I want the flexibility to ride anywhere.
Thanks,
Ben
The owner of Mountain Valley Performance called today to let me know that a muffler is totally do-able on the sled. A little fabrication work and it should be good to go.
Problem is, finding a muffler that will fit, or can be fabricated to fit. This is THE sled I have wanted to try for the last 4 years.... i hope it can happen somehow.
Spoke to the guy who built the sled I am looking at.... he knows the owner and rides with him. He has built "several" apex's with this same set up and they have been nothing short of reliable. His Yamaha rep is stopping in tomorrow to see if a muffler can be added as well as to hopefully check...
Thanks everyone. I guess I will wait it out for a while. Perhaps I will find a sled thats right for me. I am going to call the dealer that built the sled and ask if i can make it quiet enough to be trail friendly. But I think I know the answer already....

Should have probably clarified the type of sled I am looking at. It's an 07 Apex MTX. I Guess, honestly I ride 50/50 trails and off trail. But mountain riding is my favorite. I know a turbo sled is probably a handful, but I feel the need to get one and try it. I am not a small guy at 225lbs...
Hey all, I have been wanting a turbo apex for a few years now and finally have the chance and resources to buy one. But the Apex I am looking at may turn out to be too loud for riding in Michigan. I have another topic started here to address the noise issue, but one poster mentioned going with a...
Thanks! Would I be better off to convert it to a tunnel dump? Will that make it quieter? Or should I skip this sled all together and look for a super charged sled?
Ben
The sled is already set up with the Boondocker kit. I don't think at trail speeds it would be too bad, but if I was on the throttle hard, it would probably be pretty "barky". I DON'T want to risk losing trail access either, and don't want anyone to be pissed at me when I ride by. I am a pretty...
Hey all, I have been lurking around here for a few months now... learning and gathering info to help me decide which sled to buy next. I want a turbo Apex Mtx. BAAAAAD. But, I ride in Michigan as well as out west, and Michigan is checking sound levels on sleds at random on the trails. I am...
Sweet post up some more pics when you can. I have been all over the place trying to decide what to do for my next sled. I am between a Nytro Mtx. a ski doo 800 e-tec 154and putting boost on my sons phazer and getting him something else. How much boost would it take to run 120-130 hp? Can it be...
Heck, im not even a Yamaha guy..... yet. I have found this site to be great. Please keep this site open. You may have to get tough like a few other sites i have been on. Give a warning and then ban the ones who are making things hard for you. These sites should be for making friends.... and...
