    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

I also heard about the drive shaft track combos. Definitely reasonably priced. The only thing I was not sure about was loosing reverse. Was not 100% sure if the shafts were the same. I think the shaft is different on the two strokes. I think the the two strokes shaft will work on the 4 stroke...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

There are some pics in the previous posts. I’ll have to post another one with a whole pic of the sled finish. Does not look as good as the orange sled posted in the pics before mine. Looks like a plain old winder with a monorail. I have not done anything to the front suspension yet. I didn’t...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Lol. Just ordered a pallet of spinach. The power is absolutely crazy. I tested up to 30 psi of boost and promptly turned it down to 24. The power is impossible to describe. I also purchased the closed loop tuning option and advanced tuning options. I can set the desired boost and go. Closed loop...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Sent some pics to cannodale27. He should be uploading them soon. The build is not done but I’m picking up steam. Should be real soon. I’ll send some better pics when the sled is but back together. Should be an absolute animal. Has anyone wrapped these sleds yet. Was thinking about a wrap but I’m...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

And yes. The two stroke drivers will work. I spoke with Avid. They said the shafts are the same size.

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Still working on the conversion. Just waiting on drivers from Avid. The track I purchased was the 2023 power claw. It has been redesigned so Avid needs to make new drivers. I thought about doing the stock Arctic cat drivers but I’m going to be in the neighborhood of 400 HP so need them to be...

    Yamaha sidewinder falls on face

Well I actually didn’t find out from the logs themselves. There was an alert or an alarm of some sort when I logged into the gap flasher app. It was completely obvious. After I rode the sled with the logger running I connected my phone and if I remember correctly there was an alert on the bottom...

    Yamaha sidewinder falls on face

I have two sidewinders and one of them had the falling on its face issue. The other one has been perfect. Both sleds had the same set up from turbo dynamics. Took me two years to solve the issue because it was intermittent. And it usually only acted up at high altitude. After years of...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Update. I do not have dropped rolled chain case on 2017 but I think I might still be able to get the alpha track in there with smaller drivers. I’m having a set of 6 tooth drivers made from Avid. Super competent people over there. They said the hex shaft of the sidewinder and arctic cat are the...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Thanks for the info. Not sure if I have a dropped rolled chain case. Ill have to do some research. I think they did that in 2018. Luckily I have a 2018 winder also so if I get desperate I might go that route.

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Some of you may ask why and I will answer. I’m board and not willing to give up my winder mtx. Wanna try something new but there is nothing out there that impresses me. Just stuck on 4 stroke power. So I’m converting a 2017 Sidewinder to a Kmod Skinny turn key suspension with the 165 alpha...

    Engine Cuts Out

I have positively ruled out fuel quality or octane. I have been using a quality race blend and still having the issue. I don’t think the engine is knocking. I’ll be bypassing the roll over valve next week and testing. I Will also be data logging. With any luck hopefully it’s the valve or tank...

High elevation proven Mcxpress stage 3

That makes sense. I live in Wyoming and I do my fair share of climbing but nothing where I’m holding the throttle wide open for 30-45 seconds entering hills at 60MPH. To be honest I have never looked at my air intake temp after a long wide open pull. I’ll be keeping a good eye on that from now on.

High elevation proven Mcxpress stage 3

This kit looks pretty sweet. But I just don’t know if I would fork over the cash for such little gains. I have two sidewinders running the stock turbos and seeing 20 psi of boost at 10,000 ft on Turbo Dynamics tunes, exhaust, air intake, new map sensor and blow off valve. Not trying to bash...

    Engine Cuts Out

The rollover valve sounds quite plausible for sure. With the oil in the map sensor. I’ll be bypassing both sleds roll over valves next fall. Thanks for the help and input everyone. Love this site.

    Engine Cuts Out

Quick update. Took the sled to a different mountain today. And absolutely no issues. Snow conditions were hard packed. And I was riding at 7900’ instead of 12,000 ft like yesterday. So at this point looks like I’ll have to wait until next year to figure out the problem. I won’t be making any...

    Engine Cuts Out

I will look into the fuse box and wiring. Sled has 70 miles on it so idk. Also going to look into the vent line on fuel tank. I have a feeling this data logging will point the issue out right away. Just waiting for Ben to send me a flasher update.

    Engine Cuts Out

Just Talked to mike at Turbo Dynamics. He said this probly is knock detection. So I just ordered data logging feature from TD. I own a flasher so I can install that today. I will be running the sled with the same gas as yesterday and log the issue. I will then put race gas in my sled and see how...

    Engine Cuts Out

When you bypassed your roll over valve you probly also fueled you sled up with fresh fuel and went and tested it out. So no wonder it ran great after that. I don’t think the roll over valve could make the sled run like that. But I could be wrong. Anyways. Just picked up some 110 octane. Heading...
