I wonder if having the rad and the exahust under the hood would cause toubles with heat. Just worried about heated clutches causing problems with belt life like the Cat Turbo's.
One thing I forgot to mention was that plug reading was taken when it was about +3C. When I first posted it was -20C. That would make a difference I am sure. Thanks for all your help as you guys have steered me in the right direction. We don't have enough snow for me to start changing stuff...
Just checked plugs again. Nice tan colour. Glad I checked it again. Rpm at wot is just a hair over 10,000. What would you suggest for clutching? Over summer I do plan on adding rail extensions to a 144 and will drop to a 39 tooth sprocket. I should do that first before touching the clutching.
Update. Finally got out for a good run. 3 little kids will prevent lots of riding that is for sure. 40 miles of ungroomed powder in the swamps of the Interlake. Was riding with a 2003 F7, 2005 600XPSP, and 2013 Indy 600SP. Finally came to a groomed trail on the Shoal Lakes and was able to...
I have done Sled Dogs air box mod and I also installed a glass pack tunnel dump exhaust. I installed the exhaust after the doughnuts let loose and ripped holes in the paper thin titanium headers. Replaced with stainless steel and figured might as well change the exhaust as well. It was a good...
Never mind, I started out on a 1979 John Deere Spit Fire! When I was 10. That 340 free air engine was so huge it stuck out of the hood! Hold that thing to the bar for miles and miles at 55mph, couldn't kill it!
Put her back together and running real strong. Just need to wait for snow as there is only about 3 inches on the ground. There is a farm road that has some nice hard pack that the trucks have been packing down so that is a good test. I am noticing a slight pop when decelerating, but not all...
I am in the process of doing this mod as well. I noticed that some people are running 20 pilots and some are leaving stock. I bought the 20 pilots from Royal Distributing and they appear to be totaly different. I live just east of Winnipeg Manitoba and we are flat. Do I need the 20 pilot or...
Yup, what Sled Dog said. Same thing happened to mine. Took the ignition coils apart and cleaned with break cleaner. They had a bit of carbon build up and were shorting out on the head.
When that happened to me it felt like I was on my wifes XC 500!
Yes, very intimate with your chaincase like YammyRX1 said. It is not hard, just takes time. While the shaft is out replace the chaincase bearing as well. $6 well spent.
I have done this a few times, with the mono skid mind you. The best part is when you fight and fight to get it back in and your arms and shoulders are at the point of muscular failure. And then it goes in! You roll onto your back on the dirty garage floor with your arms and legs flayed out...
I just replaced mine. Had to take the shaft completly out to get at the bearing as the inner race was on there good. Heated it up and cracked it with a chisel. Slid off with my fingers. I had a small puller but could not get the hooks to bite the race.
My sled only had 3300 miles on it but...
