Is the speedo working before it cuts out? If not then check your speed sensor. If it does work and you just want a quick fix then you can bypass it. I did last year for a while after I blew a bearing and destroyed my sensor. Follow the wire from the handlebars and make sure something isn't pinched.
If you would have asked this last week I would of told you to come over to Chautauqua NY. We had great conditions all week but with 50 degree weather today, tomorrow, and Monday I'm sure the trails will close real soon.
I heated it up with a torch and then cracked the bearing race with a screw driver. My bearing was shot though so all that was left was the outer and inner race. I heated the inner race up and it slid right off the collar but with the shaft still in there my only option to get the outer race out...
I understand what you are saying but 35mph is ridiculous especially when you are nowhere near a residential area and are on a trail that is as wide as a two lane road. It just makes more sense for the police to utilize their time in a better manner such as patrolling towns and areas that are...
Just grease the bearing that's on the clutch side. Its below the clutch right next to the speed sensor. If you don't grease this bearing it will go and usually take your speed sensor. Look in the FAQ, there is a how to on greasing both the jackshaft and driveshaft bearing.
I did now! Thanks those are both really helpful. I plan on trying to make some rubber bushings to eliminate some of the problem. Ill check back in once I have finished
So I fixed the reverse. It ended up being the linkage. The manual says 27mm but I ended up adjusting it all the way out to 34mm which kind of scares me. Re checked the skid and found nothing wrong. I'll just ride it with the noise if you guys insist it's just the transfer rod. Does it sound like...
I've read a lot on those bearings and for now on I'll be repacking them ever year. The battery wasn't a big deal especially since it didn't run one time last year. I'll check the spring out to see if it is loose or damaged.
It most definitely a clunking noise but it never did it before the last two rides and I dont know if it matters but my dads 06 attak doesn't make the noise. What's the best way to check and see if this is the culprit?
Hey everyone I need some help troubleshooting some of my problems. I have done extensive research on TY and the rest of the web but still can't figure out a fix to my problem. First of all I would like to share a little background. I upgraded this winter from my 1998 Vmax 700 to my dads 2006...
When looking at the chart that comes with the skis, they actually recommend 2/0 or 4/0 for the easiest handling. I think you will be fine except for a little pushing in some loose snow. Also I found some tuner skis through a Yamaha dealer on ebay along with the carbides and I ordered two sets...
My dad had the Yamaha dual runners on his 06 attak. I ended up buying the tuner skis for my 06 apex and his attak. He said the tuner skis are way better than the Yamaha dual skis. I have 300 miles on the tuner skis running 4 inside and 2 outside and they are night and day from stock. Best $300...
I don't know of it is the same as the apex but when I got the er1 code it was because the driveshaft bearing went and knocked the speed sensor out. It caused the fuel pump not to come on because the speed sensor was shorting out the circuit. I would check that as it is something you can see...
Check the free play in throttle cable. If you want to bypass the TORS just follow the wires from the throttle and locate the black and yellow wire and black and blue wire. One will have a black connector and one will have a white. Just swap them so they create a loop. However, without the TORS...
When I got the er1 code it was because my driveshaft bearing went and it took the speed sensor with it. I would check that first since you can see it without removing anything.
