    05 VECTOR STATOR REPLACEMENT???

Hey R-Freak how's it going? My stator on my 05 went at ~7100 miles. Ticking time bomb if you ask me. If I had to do it all over, when my sled hit 6000 miles or before a season started (preferred), I'd replace it. A stator going bad = A TRIP KILLER The season is short enough as it is.

    Changing battery.

$80 is a good price if you can find one, but IMO for how much you depend on the battery, why cheap out? Remember, you can't pull start these puppies! Pulling the airbox is easy enough, BUT the underside oil like is the culprit of many a horror stories! I actually went out and bought a long...

    05 Vector ER electrical gremlin...

Sled is an 05 Vector ER with 8000 miles. Stator and battery replaced last season. Sled has NEVER done this before..... I ran the sled yesterday and this AM without any issues. Right after lunch I started up the sled and it started and ran just fine. BUT...the gauge didn't work, I had no...

What year has been the best Vector RS

Store the sled properly with non-ethanol fuel and you don't have to clean carbs every year. "Working on equipment" -- you gotta be kidding me! I truly don't think there is a sled out there today that has the ongoing maintenance issues that Yamaha's have. If you ride 1000 miles per year then...

What year has been the best Vector RS

and that of just about every racer, tuner, builder, engineer and manufacture of internal combustion engines. and of course this makes it right. FI has two drawbacks, cost and serviceability BINGO! People here b!tch about the costs of repairing these sleds already. Wait till they have...

What year has been the best Vector RS

Why is a FI Vector better than a carb'd Vector? Just because it's FI'd? FI isn't better IMO just because it's FI. I am perfectly happy with my carb'd Vector and can't see spending the extra $$ for FI to gain a couple of HP. Now...going with an 08 or newer with the DBII chassis and the...

    06 Vector won't start...no spark ?

Seems like touching the throttle can lead to a fouled plug. That's been my experience. FWIW - there was mention about warming the sleds up during the offseason. I've got a temp gage that I got from Ulmer Racing. I like knowing where the engine temp is. Don't like to rely on an idiot lite!

    06 Vector won't start...no spark ?

Make sure the battery is fully charged, full choke, then turn her over in 10 second bursts until it starts. It may take 6 or 7 tries. Assuming your carbs aren't all gummed up and the pilots plugged, the sled should start. If the sled ran before it was stored, IMO your electrical system will...

If you're unsure AT ALL how to do it, let a GOOD dealer do it for you. One hour @ $shop rate$. The damage you can do by not doing it right could cost you thousands.
