    Mystery Oil

Ya it happened to my 2015 xtx. No oil on the dipstick after storage but no evidence of a leak so I took a chance and started it. No oil light came on so I shut it down and oil level was back to normal.

    Mystery Oil

It’s most likely the oil is all in the engine. It happened to me a couple of times after summer storage. Don’t know why.

    Final assessment

The Tundra will definitely go more places and break new trail with ease. Where It doesn’t do well is on the return trip when you are trying to run the the same single track. lf you try to go a bit faster on that single track in deep powder you will experience what I call the death wobble. The...

    brake caliper hittin rotor

My 2021 went 6k without issue then I noticed a rusty dust developing by the brake rotor. Took it apart and the bearing had spun with evidence of a groove on the brake rotor collar . The shaft looked decent so I measured and found .006 of clearance. Talked to the Dealer and he ordered a new...

    My First SideWinder Problem

I only run 0w40 in my sled. You never know when it’s -35 and it’s gotta start! Rode with a viper 2 years ago and it was -37. It also pushed oil out the filter gasket then re-sealed once warmed up.

    Clutch servicing

I would say just drive it for now and get some miles on her. Keep an eye on your belt wear.

The fit difference between 06 and 11 is significant, I remember getting some by mistake and i don’t think you would ever be able to make them fit. If sanding them a bit is working keep going, the tighter they fit over the pipe the less chance of a leak or vibration. I also am a high mile rider...

I would never use the copper donuts. The factory donuts will last 5000kms. Just change them every oil change. I have owned 3 apex sleds and put a combined 100,000 plus kilometres on them. Always changed the donuts on the earlier models like yours every 5k. Exup models are good for 10k or more...

Sorry it’s on the Yamaha Canada website. Look down at the bottom left of the Snowmobile accessories page. The service manual is available here but I think you need to be a lifetime member and then request a copy from a moderator. Just go to the Apex General forum and click on FAQ’s at the top...

    Clutch servicing

Yes a new belt should be above about 1/16”. Maybe different with that roller set up, clutch might be easier to open with rollers and just the belt tension in causing it to open.

    Clutch servicing

So the primary was pulling the belt down in the secondary?

    Clutch servicing

How did you set up the secondary, was it the primary causing that problem also?

    hard rattle on cold start

It is normal, you should here it at -39, sounds like a diesel. Yes you need a good battery for very cold starts.

    Clutch servicing

I mentioned that the preloading my be weak but he still needs to eliminate other possibilities first. The spring is strong enough to close the secondary with no belt and when test running the secondary operates properly just not returning the belt to the top. So the next step is to try a new...
