I think we need to give the dealers some slack...
This is a MAJOR undertaking for some of them. They are losing their shirts on labor costs for the recall. Yamaha says 14 hours, Ulmer, which is a crack shop, is saying 28.
My dealer who only has mine to do, has over 30 hours into it. It should...
Got the word my sled is in the recall serial number range... so it sounds like they have a range to go on...
Dealer is tearing the sled apart this week with the kit to be arriving in a few days....
I have never used a torque wrench on studs.. right or wrong...
When I install them, I always make sure the back of the stud is indented in the track just enough so you couldn't touch it with a straight edge across the track.
I've studded 4 sleds that way, I check them for that clearance each...
I'm calling my dealer this morning, but I suspect nothing has changed.
Our trails open December 11th. If there is snow, I'm picking my sled up and using it until the recall comes out or it blows up.
If it does blow up, I will expect it to be replaced under warranty. If there is a lot of the...
Actually, in the "intent to recall" notice that was posted in another thread, it says exactly that, owners should not ride their sleds.
The problem I have with riding it and depending on the warranty is this: I have a 3 year warranty, one year is gone due to a crappy winter (not yami's fault of...
Last years poor winter only delayed things for Yamaha, when people start using their sleds in a month or so, the furor will build...
I honestly see a class action suit coming... it will be Yamaha's decision whether to fight and risk the PR fallout or settle....and remember, Cat will be affected...
I talked to my dealer yesterday, he confirms Yamaha is holding back on an official recall and/or parts because it is trying to identify the sleds affected via serial number.
What this tells me is they do not have an idea of when installation of bad rods started and when it was stopped... it...

I had a long conversation with my dealer on Saturday regarding the recall and the ramifications of it. Here are some tidbits:
The recall kits are not ready yet, but they should be in within the next two...
Hey guys, here's a the latest from my dealer as of this morning
"Hi Jeff, I spoke to an RTA (Regional Tech Advisor) at Yamaha yesterday re. your
turbo and as of now they don't have the kits yet. He said he's expecting them
in the next week at which time they'll be detailed instructions on...
My dealer reached out to me and wanted my sled in asap for just that reason. Since I had the only Turbo he sold last year, my situation may be unique and he may buy the parts to do it now and get reimbursed when the kits actually come out.
I'm not sure, just going on what my dealer told me that there IS a recall.
My guess is he wants my sled in and ready to go when the SB is released. I'm almost wondering if he has the rods in stock.. Mine is the only MPI trail turbo sled he sold last year. I'll know more this weekend.
Got an email from my dealer stating there IS a recall... He wants my sled in for it before he gets really busy with the '17's.
I'll probably drop it off next weekend. BTW, my sleds build date is 5/2015
Depending on where you are storing it, I'd mouse proof it too..Shove steel wool in the exhaust outlet, and either put dryer sheets or cotton balls with peppermint oil at various places on and in the sled. Leave yourself a BIG note on the gauge cluster to remind yourself what you did so you can...
I've watched the video a bunch of times... I DON"T think it's a crotch rocket seating style vehicle. Yes, in one shot, it looks like the rider is leaning forward, but I think that's more for effect/camera clearance.. in another shot from the rear, it's clear the rider has his hands at almost...
just got a call from my dealer.
He got a service bulletin from Yamaha that REQUIRES dealers to install a boost gauge on ALL 2016 SRVipers with the MPI trail turbo.
My guess is Yami is trying to clarify what is causing the blow ups on the '16 sleds.
