First impressions of the 2009 RS Venture GT

Great thread. Great report Hondo. Looks like a winner, I'm very tempted to order one up.

tors making my 05 backfire need a little help

Sounds like the same problem I had with my '05 RS. There was a tech update that either updates or replaced the CDI that fixed it.

    R.S. batteries

Most important thing you can do is to make sure it is fully charged when storing. Then check every couple of months and make sure it's above 12 volts, put charger back on if it's gets down to 12. Still on my original '05 (4th season) but will change it out this summer since they just don't last...

    2006 RS Vector Hard Starting

I've always been curious why sleds are hard to start after they've been on their sides. Once they're started then there's never a problem unlike carioca who seems to have a permanent issue. I always figured the carbs get flooded.

RS Rage broke bolts that hold rear suspension

Was the suspension ever pulled? Bolts could have been over torqued or became loose. What year is it? Suspensions definitely need to be greased and maintained regardless of the miles.

    Sea Foam In 05 RX1

I became a firm believer in SeaFoam when I ran it in my '91 Honda Nighthawk bike. I knew the carbs needed cleaning, idled rough on cold starts and was only getting 40mpg. A couple of tanks of gas with SeaFoam, no longer rough idle and mileage is up to 46mpg. Pretty good snake oil.

    RS Venture or Rage?

Top of windshield is 52", top of back without passenger back rest is 35". Just get mine in a Triton 120" with big bull nose with 1/4" to spare. ;)!

    RS Venture or Rage?

No problem running full out for long periods of time. A trail up in Quebec is full out straight for 30 miles, do it in just under 20 minutes. If the trailer has a good bull nose where you can sneak the skis forward, just fits. Tip of skis to rear of bumper is 125".

Pulling out the skid, who has done it?

Having pulled many a skid, here's my 2 cents. The hardest part is putting it back in especially if you're doing yourself. Lifts, come alongs, and power tools are great helps. 1. Loosen rear axle and back track tension bolts all the way in towards skid. 2. Use air driver or high speed high...

    RS Venture or Rage?

105 fast enough? The venture is a lot of track which makes it harder to handle in turns. I will definitely drop down to a 136" my next sled.

Drain through a strainer to see if there are any chips. Then open it up, look for any chips and inspect the gears carefully.

05 RS Venture belt smokes from stop in forward or reverse

8,000 miles on my 05, never had this happen. Happened once on my Viper, the hyfax overheated and after stopping the clips welded to the hyfax, had to flip the sled over and pull the track away from the hyfax. But the fact you can free it by changing the direction of the track sounds like a...

Weird? Snow build-up in airbox Why?

So, you're saying Yamaha designs perfect machines and any and all issues people have are caused by the user?

Weird? Snow build-up in airbox Why?

No, not at all. There have been 3 posts about this problem that I've seen. It happens. They're SNOWmobiles, it shouldn't happen. The great thing about this site is you can find out how to resolve it and move on. I just tried to offer my solution and express how it affected me. Sorry you're...

RS Venture - Studding vs. Idler Wheel Life

There are people who have studded and had no problems and people who have not studded and had problems, there is nothing definitive. If you have a YES warranty, once you stud, you'll loose your your coverage on any of the wheels in the suspension. Just keep an eye on the idlers once you do it.
