    Clutching question

Assuming you have the sea level EABC your unit will be ready to automatically adjust boost up to 8PSI I believe to compensate for altitude. That means you're going to be losing 10 or so ponies at 8k. I wouldn't jump through too many hoops.

    Y.E.S. or SOL?

Thanks Steve. Good call on the pen. Easy indication on what is moving. In re-assessing after a year down it looks like the rear shock might be ready for a ride to Manitowoc so I'm sure you'll be hearing from me on getting the whole lot of shocks done this spring. I hadn't even put 2 and 2...

    Y.E.S. or SOL?

Agreed. I think with a smaller rider the fact the thing didn't just lose all hold and hit bottom was a lifesaver. From the way that I see warranty claims go I'm just going to get the parts and replace the gussets and use hardened hardware the next time. I can't see how the bolt would snap...

    Y.E.S. or SOL?

Snugging up the bolts that hold things together is on the list of regular activities along with greasing, slide checks, and bearing checks. Haven't dropped the skid in the 3 years and 3300 miles I've owned it but obviously that will change... I didn't really think the dealer would be able to...

    Y.E.S. or SOL?

Rough weekend to be my sled. Had been letting my wife ride the sled and 70 miles from home she told me it sounded 'like a tank'. Sure as hell, the bolt holding the back of the skid to the tunnel on the right side had broken broken off and had lobed out and ripped metal the track to rub The...

    secondary question

More spring pretension will give you quicker backshift but it will create more friction within the driven clutch. You've got a ton of twist on so you might try toning that back and feeling the clutches to see how much friction they're getting.

Boost gauge broken or EABC issue?

I was hooking up well. I have to think i either plugged my pressure line into the wrong bung or the gauge is just misbehaving. Boost was hitting and holding at 9 or 10 fairly consistently. Might bust out my old mechanical to gut check. If this is all a result of the race can on the turbo i'm...

Boost gauge broken or EABC issue?

Hi all. I'm out for the first ride after replacing my EABC (was sent to MPI to flash to 5 psi) and adding the MPI racing can after the EABC was damaged by a belt and even on a sub 55 mph night ride....things are weird. Today my AEM boost/afr gauge was reading as high as 11 psi (AFR was still...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

HAHAHAHA. That's funny. I got yanked away to Duluth for work this week so I can't go take a look but this experience is causing me to reconsider my sanity. I'm 99% positive I wrapped cw past the first button set but it certainly wasn't feeling right at takeoff. I get Friday off so I'm hoping...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

I got it in 3-2 with extra hands but gave up and went 6-1 when I was alone. That thing fights back!

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

I'm turbo so I'll give 3-3 a whirl. I'm 99% sure I went clockwise and past the first setof buttons but there's no denying it didn't feel right! I'll pop it off and take pics so some smarter folks here can let me know if I'm hitting the mark. Appreciate your thoughts!

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

I'll snap a few pics when I get home Friday morning. I finally find snow and it's when I'm driving for work :( Irony for days!

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

Is that twist usually about 90 degrees? I did this yesterday and I recall about a quarter turn of twist CW. Maybe even a little less... I am leaning towards assembling it incorrectly last week! It was 10 below and I was running on fumes. I think the concensus is that this is just some casting...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

Hmm. I just took a look and the spring on the helix is at 7:00 sitting the sled in the 6 hole on the helix and the 1 slot on the primary is at 10:00 or maybe 11:00, does that seem about right? I know I went clockwise putting things back together and it certainly fought me. Not sure an extra...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

Clutching is the big venom kit, Orange pink orange on the primary, orange on the secondary wound 6-1 now. The belt had been squealing and it felt like it was trying to take off in 2nd gear on my last ride so I took the secondary back off, ensured everything was clean, scotch brighted, torqued...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

Both springs are new and the other units removed looked good too. You are right though. These ramps don't make contact with anything so I'm not sure if this is just some dings and dents from the factory or what but the helix ramps and shoes are both lookign just fine. I think I'm just...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

Thanks Steve. I don't know why my computer has such a hard time with photos. My symptom was hard starts and the belt squealing. So I took the secondary apart to see if I messed anything up when replacing my spring last week. I think i figured it out late last night. My neighbor borrowed...

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

Ah. I called them shoes just because thats what the diagram had them as lol. They look good to me. I did not take a photo before disassembly and reassembly I'm afraid. My symptoms I was trying to fix were hard take offs, like the sled was in 3rd gear since I replaced my secondary...

The ramp shoes? They look to have a little wear on them but nothing you can feel.

    Secondary sheave wearing. Normal?

I am taking the secondary apart to see if I can figure out where my takeoff issue is coming from and noticed that the secondary sheave ramps are a bit mangled. Is this normal? It doesn't look bad but it certainly keeps the sheaves from sliding smooth. Is it repairable or am I going to be...
