    Why so quiet?

What happened to all my alerts? It's been very quiet here on TY. Has everybody figured out their clutching and no more belt problems? Maybe everybody is out riding on this late season snow? Maybe Yamaha's abbreviated line up has dampered some enthusiasm?

    Two Seasons on Winder

Ok I have two seasons on my Winder. Only 2800 miles due to two absolutely putrid Winters. I have the original belt and have never experienced any belt issues. I did the Roll over valve mod, 4th wheel kit, tunnel flares and 6.9 Pilot ski's. The sled has been absolutely trouble free and has never...

    Broken snap ring.

I noticed the snap ring that holds the rotor at the end of the drive shaft broke about an inch from the top. I had it off once for track exchange and then again to repack the bearing behind the caliper. Anybody else ever have one of these break? I'm assuming if the rest of it comes off the drive...

    Cat grille?

I have read a few mixed reviews about the Cat grille on our Winders. Some say it holds less snow and ice and others claim the Yamaha grille holds less. I also read the Cat grille is easier to clean ice and snow off. Anybody have experience with these and what's your thoughts?

    Sidewinder issues?

Today I removed my roll over valve like Mike Knapp and Rockerdan did and I was thinking about the issues we have had with these Winders or in my case lack of issues. I then thought of my last first year sled I bought my 09 1200 SkiDoo. Here is the list of first year 1200 issues. Coolant leaking...

    Updated elbow fuel tank vent.

I got the updated elbow (8KC-F4376-10) for the fuel tank vent along with the clamp that it calls for. The parts are only a few bucks each. The new elbow is black and has a large opening right through it. The old red elbow has a very small opening. I used my plumbing pex crimper to crimp the clip.

    Frozen steering?

A little over a week ago I went through a water hole on the trail that was pretty deep. Ever since my steering has froze in the morning. It really sucks trying to turn this sled when it's froze. It takes some time to thaw then it's fine for the rest of the day till the next morning. What I...

    bleeding brakes?

I've bled more brakes than I care over the years. I had to bleed the Winder brakes after splitting the caliper and I'm still dealing with a spongy lever. Any tricks or ideas. One of my 1200 Doo's gave me trouble a few years ago but I eventually got it to work to my liking. With the Winder it...

    Pre season maintenance observations

Since I'm now retired I spent the day in the shop working on my Winder. I have some observations to share for those who might care. First thing I did was drill out all the rivets on the lower panel chain case side and installed rivet nuts. WOW does that make working on the case and changing...

    Gear oil for chain case?

What are you guys using in your chain case? Yamaha calls for 75 or 80 w gear oil. I've used 75/90 and 75/140 synthetic in the past. Does it really matter?

Secondary belt adjuster and belt remover

I see there are a few choices out there and was wondering what is everybody using and what you like. I was thinking about the one Thunder Products has and also the one OSP offers. They are priced the same but are a bit different. Thoughts?

    Blown belts?

Last season there were many reports about belts blowing and some snapping in half. While most of these issues are a result of hot clutches most owners reported cool clutches even after several long WOT pulls. I personally didn't have any belt issues but I only put 1600 miles on my SW. There were...

Uh Oh! Not that question again!

OK here goes. What oil are you guys running in your SW? They call for 0-W30 semi and 0-W40 full synthetic. I ran 0-W30 full in my 08 Nytro and 06 Apex. I remember guys posting that they went with lighter viscosity oil because it was faster. Snow Goer even did a report about last years Thundercat...

    Frozen primary roller.

I was checking out my sled today and noticed one of my primary rollers are froze. It won't move at all like its jammed or something. Anybody else have this happen? I figure when I bring it in for the secondary rollers they can fix this too. I wonder if it damaged the cam arm because it was...

    Sidewinder in Gaspe

Just got back from Gaspe with my SW and Wife's 1200. What an awesome trip! 1200 miles of just adding fuel to both sleds. I never opened a side panel. I now have 1700 absolutely trouble free miles on original belt. The SW was awesome at everything. The power is endless and trail riding this sled...

    Sidewinder = Viagra

I'm 61 years old and will soon be getting my SS checks. Today my Wife said that I'm riding my SW much faster than my 1200 Doo especially through the tight trails. She said the last couple years she noticed I was slowing down a bit and she felt like she was pushing me at times. Now she feels like...

No Issues and great fuel mileage!

Yep my sled has been flawless the last ten days and hasn't used any fuel whatsoever! That's because its been sitting in my shop doing NOTHING!! We had about three feet of awesome snow and I was loving my Sidewinder and now we have absolutely NOTHING!! Last Winter SUCKED and so far the Winter...

I checked my sled out today.

Ok I have been reading all the issues that have been posted and I thank those for posting. Today I went through the list. First I replaced all six exhaust bolts with hex heads and put high temp never seize, my turbo bolts have always been tight, I checked the fuel rail screws and they are tight...
