Yamaha Poll: What Skis are you running on your Sidewinder?

Same except a bit more center carbide and a few less studs. Big thanks to @ROCKERDAN for the write up on the 6.9's!

Once upon a time, I had a belt blower, then Mike Knapp and Clutchmaster did some magic

Great to hear @Beerman! @ClutchMaster has been a huge help for me as well. Very patient, lots of recommendations and a wealth of info. My belt blowing issue is still not resolved but we're working on my secondary now too, hopefully I'll start to see positive results like you Art.

Potentially but the ones near the clutch should have frogzskinz style vents to prevent that. I'd rather slip a belt for a few seconds in an emergency situation than blow one.

Blew my first belt with only a few hundred stock miles too.

Not really. The first blown belt after install, your guard deformed so badly that it pushed on and ripped the lower panel away from 1 of the rivets. I wasn't very happy about it, took some pics & was gonna send them to you but I quickly realized the problem was more mine than yours. Blew my...

I did my best to go straight thru with the hole saw but it wasn't perfect. That guard is junk anyway after 18 blown belts!

Hauck uses MoFlow, which is what I used. I wanted to support the dealer but Hauck kinda pissed me off when they took my order over the phone but neglected to tell me that they didn't have the parts in stock and didn't know when they would be receiving more. MoFlow was great, even made a custom...

Even unblocked I still don't think that single intake snorkel on the clutch side is capable of providing enough flow to the proper area needed to cool the clutches. For starters it's located ON TOP of the clutch guard!

Hot enough to cause premature belt failure, delamination.

Snap in round vents are designed for intakes and are from Parts Unlimited: http://www.parts-unlimited.com/products/?productId=462974 I used the 14-197's. There's also the stick on ones like @jonlafon1 posted but I didn't want to take the chance of losing a vent while riding.

Are you saying the QAY's are more trail friendly than the DTYA's? If so, why?

    Soupy's belts

I understand some people have cool clutches but I think the big picture of a 4 stroke engine, turbo, water pump, coolant, exhaust, belt drive, etc all stuffed under the tightly packaged plastics could be hard on a belt that may or may not have been designed years ago for much lower powered...

Good news, finally made an entire weekend, almost 500 miles, without blowing a belt. I rode it hard, trails were flat & fast. Kinda even tried to blow a belt but damn, Max 17 is just so sick when you're exiting turns at 80, it doesn't take long to get to 115+! Y'all know I've tried many...
