It got hot idling but there was some air in the coolant lines we got burped out (at least I'm fairly certain) Seemed to idle fine and not get hot after that. I made a couple of short passes (100 yds or so) and it came back on...
And long awaited.... here's the $200 project finished!

So, this thing is a ROCKET compared to what I'm used to!
Does anyone know how quickly the 'overheated ' light should come on? I ran it for about 10 minutes and got the indicator, outside temp was about 85.... I'm wondering if it's just because there's no snow on the cooling fins...
Thoughts?
Well we sent out a scout yesterday to take a look at the mountain and unfortunately snow has receded up to the summit and is inaccessible so it looks like around the yard in the dirt is the only plan for 'shake down' until the snow flies this winter... :letsnow:
The goal is to wrap this project up within the next couple of days and although it is 90 degrees outside, rumor on the street is there is still enough snow on top of the hill to get a shakedown run in...
Last on the list is check the chain case oil, mount the battery, get the clutch set up and...
Hey all, thanks for the replies and willingness to help @snowfever27 @thor452 @maim !
I was able to route the wiring in a manner that seems like it's close to what it should be, everything is plugged in and there doesn't seem to be much strain or rub points but I'd still love to see some pics...
Great news! It lives!!!
Just need to install the clutch, reroute some wires and assemble the plastics!
Does anyone have any pictures of the wire routing? Specifically the main harness where it comes through chassis by the coolant reservoir...
Hi all!
So we're getting close to completion of the install but can't figure out what the lever under the headlight switch is for.
It has a cable coming out of it and it's not the brake...
Anyone have an idea?
Compression release maybe? The book says starter cable but can't find where it would...
Copy, I appreciate the input! When I got the sled it actually came with the full service manual as well, I'll keep your input in mind as we get to mounting, I wouldn't have even thought of that!
Seeing is all of our snow is gone the pressure is gone so I can take my time (when I find the time...
Just an update, the motor showed up last Friday that I got from Travis at Barn of Parts, easy transaction and a pleasure to deal with.
Now to squeeze in some time to actually swap things out!
Good to know, I did some light reading on them and I'm anxious to see how they do this next winter... It's gonna be a long summer once I get this thing running!
Agreed! I was glad when he had the whole wiring harness for both carb/efi untouched!
I'm working with Travis on getting a motor currently just working out shipping arrangements now ;)!
Anyone have any input on the ski's I've got? :sled1:
Hey everyone,
I'm definitely wanting to go the motor route just waiting to hear from @hibshman25 to see what he's got, Hopefully @kinger can take a look and see if I've got what I need minus the motor...
I'm not sure if the 'mention' feature works on this forum?
Anyone have any thoughts on...
Here's more pics of the electrical, seems all factory and stock for the EFI to me, looks like a lot of it just goes together. Also, do the skis/ shocks look stock? I haven't seen this style of ski before
I remember seeing 4 relays on the left I think. I'll confirm soon...
I was surprised at the value of both motors, hoping I can recoup by selling the rx1 ;)!
I agree that all the electrical appears to be the stock stuff and not touched.
I'll grab some more pics of that when I'm at the garage again.
Footwells meaning where your feet go? I know there's a little radiator and fan above the right side one :)
