Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

Alright. Different from motorcycles, I guess, which are generally "right"....right out of the box. (well, tires aren't always so spot on...and I've got one with a seat I've never really liked). Even if you get a Viper, by the time you add carbides, you're up to the price of a Blizzard...so...

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

I test drove two Sidewinders today at a Yamaha demo day. The first was a 50th Anniversary RX-TX, the 129" track version. The ride was on a groomed trail, mostly through fields, but also through some bush. Trail conditions I would describe as fairly good - no bare spots, good pack, but packed...

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

Sidewinder is possibly overkill? I'd take the wife and kids over the Winder any day! LOL

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

Every time I look at a Viper, I'm enticed to move up to a Sidewinder. There are a few Vipers around at good prices. Will it handle as well as the Sidewinder?

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

Can you still jump a sidewinder? I guess my feeling is that the 600 two-smokes are the best for that but not sure.

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

I'll be mostly riding in northern Ontario, Michigan, and Quebec on the trail system. I'll probably do a thousand miles a winter and just keep the sled for a good ten years. I don't need a major powerhouse - I want reliability and durability, and a good system for hauling extra fuel if I go on...

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

Alright. Sorry, that's a 794cc Suzuki motor. At 13,500, this sled has the most money "off," but I don't want that to be the deciding factor.

Sled Choices - Sidewinder or Blizzard or Arctic Cat ZR8000 Limited?

Still haven't picked up a sled, but I'm looking at a couple of options. Love the reliability of Yamaha, but don't necessarily want the weight. Was looking at a new Sidewinder with the QSR-3 shocks, and also looking at the lower model with the Fox 1.5 Zero RC shocks. My initial thought...

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

One thing I noticed about the Winders was the knockouts below the handlebar for accessory switches. I can see why they did that (ie if you wanted to add the heated seat), but it looks a little cheap. You're right, the fit and finish on the Japan-built sleds looks better! But I'm not sure that...

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

If the Vector is still in a more upright position, it looks like it would be sufficient for me. Blue Beacon had a 2017 Viper R-TX on for $13,300, but someone grabbed it up.

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

I need a more upright riding position, with the slight lean forward because of my back. I thought I sat on an Apex, and it was more of a traditional sit down machine? What about the Vector?

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

Okay, so the Cat has the roller clutch? I'm wondering if Yamaha has their own quality control people in that plant. Might make a difference?

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

Not a bad idea, but I'm a little concerned about quality control with Cat. Do I need to be? Isn't the Viper made in an Arctic Cat facility?

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

The comments I'm hearing are that the Winder is just a nicer handling sled overall, and that's more important to me, even if I won't use all of the power that's there. I'll check which models have the QRS3 shocks and go from there. Likely going to write off the Viper, but the price sure made it...

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

I'll see which model has those shocks. I liked the Winder L-TX-DX because of the heated seat and the taller windshield, but I don't think it has those shocks. Better to move up a model and add the heated seat and windshield than to change the shocks on the DX? Watched a review on the Winder...

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

I was just in Hully Gully looking at sleds and no one even came to talk to me. Maybe they've given up on me, not sure, but I'll try them again. Yes, I'll try Brian's in Hensall as well.

    2017 Viper R-TX or 2018 Sidewinder Turbo?

Hi, I'm 47 and an avid motorcyclist but am new to snowmobiling, at least since my early teens, when I essentially went bombing across open fields and a few small creeks on the prairies. I've been getting the snowmobile bug and am interested in doing some trail riding in Ontario and Quebec. I...
