Anyone familiar with a revving sound, that isn’t the engine??

I thought that too. But I took the cap off while it was running & didn’t affect it.

Anyone familiar with a revving sound, that isn’t the engine??

Yes it’s a revving sound. The tach on the sled doesn’t change, and a little throttle doesn’t change the revving sound. So it’s not engine. It’s the same tempo. Best way to describe it is like there’s a 2stroke off in the distance revving up & down. Approx every second. Revs up for a...

Anyone familiar with a revving sound, that isn’t the engine??

No, not the clutch. I know that sound. Throttle doesn’t seem to affect it either. ROV is becoming the biggest suspect. Sounds like nothing to be concerned about though, excluding ROV lead oil leak. Thanks for the responses fellas!

    Stryke shim

Ohh ok. I assumed the front ones with no markings were 0. I’ll check that tomorrow. I was out the last 2 days on this set up. Spring conditions though so changing from ice in the am, to great, to soft & back to ice through the day. From what I can tell the 2.5’s made steering a little...

Anyone familiar with a revving sound, that isn’t the engine??

Thanks for the reply Norse. Yes it has power steering, which is another thing different than the 17 I was driving with. When I loosened the gas cap it didn’t make a difference. Putting my ear up to the fill hole didn’t sound like it was fuel pump. Has anyone else with eps sleds heard this...

Anyone familiar with a revving sound, that isn’t the engine??

Really? What causes it? I was riding with another Sidewinder, he said he hadn’t heard it before either. The only relatable difference I could see between the 2 was the ROV. (His was a 17). I heard the turbo gurgle when I shut the sled off, It’s not that. Almost sounds like a 2 stroke...

Anyone familiar with a revving sound, that isn’t the engine??

Hey all, bit of an odd question. Seems like after about 150klm into a ride, I can hear a faint sound from the cowl that almost sounds like a sled in the distance revving? Belt on or off doesn’t make a difference. Can’t tell if it i does it when moving, it’d be too quiet. No lights or...

    Stryke shim

The shim pack comes with 2.5’s, 5’s & 7.5’s. So I’ll have to order the 0’s separate. Either that or put the 5’s in the front which should level the ski out. For now I put 2.5’s in the rear and left the 0’s in front. Hope to try it out tomorrow.

    Props - igrip

Hey guys, I have to give a atta girl to igrip. Confession - at times, I can be a big dummy. This is one of those times. I ordered 250 ST25R studs for my 1&1/4 ripsaw 2 track. Some probably see the problem there. When I looked online it clearly recommended the ST24R for the ripsaw 2...

    Stryke shim

Hey all, Has anyone changed the shims in the Stryke skis? Mine came with a 0 shim in the front & a .5 in the rear. Which, to my understanding, was to make the steering easier. Which to me seems redundant on eps. But when I removed the stock carbides at 1,250 klm to put Snow Trackers on...

    Nutsert mod

Hey, anyone still doing the nutsert mod? I haven't seen it mentioned in a bit. Just coincidence or did something put a end to that?

Valve shim - Now a miss

Maybe try a can of seafoam & see if that makes a difference? Have you ever replaced your fuel filter? Although I would think that things like a fuel filter or injectors would give you symptoms consistently, not just when starting. But, cheap things to try to see if it makes a difference...

    Weight transfer with snow trackers

Snow tracker recommended taking a lot of the weight off the front skis with the aggressive trackers. I didn’t get to drive the sled to hard yesterday, but in the hard almost solid ice snow I didn’t experience any issues to suggest it was too light. With the eps it was fantastic actually...

    Weight transfer with snow trackers

Snow Trackers made a huge difference. Typical spring conditions today. We had a lot of rain yesterday followed by a temp drop so snow was hard as cement. Stayed cool all day so it didn’t soften up. So couldn’t push too hard before the sliders started smelling like hot glue. So can’t comment...

    Weight transfer with snow trackers

Well, I installed the Snow Trackers today. First thing I noticed, and to anyone installing Snow Trackers on Stryke skis, the instructions say drill a 1/2” hole on a 60 degree angle toward the front of the ski 4&1/4” forward of the first hole. This isn’t correct. The first hole in a Stryke ski...

    Weight transfer with snow trackers

Gottcha. Not sure if they'll be enough riding time left to sort this one out this year. I'll try to limit my changes to 1 per ride. Hope to get the Snow trackers on before this weekend. What did you do with the SRX? Did you go with snow trackers on that?

    Weight transfer with snow trackers

Yes 19411. Earthling, this is my 2nd sled, my 1st being a X-TX skid without torsion springs. When you say dial back preload on the torsion springs, do you mean to set that cam to the "1" position?

Simplespeed, I'm green to the suspension dynamics. Can you tell me what you mean by "spring down"?
