Wait till you install the new spring. All the rest of your settings are close. My setup is very similar. 80 psi in the front shocks, 160lb Z bros spring in the front skid and 140lbs in the rear shock. That new spring will make a big difference.
the Z bros spring will make a difference. Dont crank the pre-load when you install. Turn the adjustment ring until it seats on the spring then go maybe 2 turns more. A little adjustment can make a big difference. Your sled will also handle much better. Make sure that your limiter strap is all...
The mods that I have made that made the sled perform better. Change the spring in the front skid to a 160lb, remove the stock muffler and install a cr racing resonator. Its louder than I want but the weight savings is worth it. A true cold air intake that draws air from outside the sled. Most...
I have done a few batteries threw the years, a few AGMs that have done well. When the last one was not reliable I went to a lithium battery. I wanted a 12 cell for the price but had to get a 16 cell, bugger just in front of me bought the 12 cell. I have moved the battery from the RX1 mtn to the...
Thank You DMC Turbo. You are so right. These are great machines. There isn't another sled that can put that sh_t eat'n grin on you face all day long. Keep up the positive posts. I love my Winder and all the power it has( maybe a bit too much at times vs my old ride, LOL)
Here are a few things to check. Look at and feel the rollers on the secondary, do you see or feel flat spots. Mine had flat spots and the belt is wearing fast. Also check your primary rollers. You will need to remove one to look at it. The bushing in the roller pushes out, over a short time this...
Have you had your airbox off? I had a similar problem years ago and it was the airbox not correctly attached to the carbs. Check to see if the airbox boots are on the carbs all the way. If one is not on and air is leaking by that could be your problem.
I am going to chime in on this thread. I have a 2017 162" Sidewinder. I carry a tunnel bag on the tail that weights 25lbs when full, and its always full. This weekend it was the straps that broke on the bag case the trail to the step and deep was BRUTAL. I run hard and have no signs of a bent...
Here is a mod that i have done with good results. The temps on the mountain were -10c. The intake air temp on the dash was between 2c and -3c during the ride. I have an aftermarket light weight hood, but i think the same thing can be done by removing the lower intake case to gain some space. I...
I cant give you an answer on the pilot screw. I have been running 132.5 jets in mine forever. most of my riding is between 5000' to 6500'. I do alot of riding over in Castlegar and Salmo area.
Well i couldn't take the old girl beat'n me up any more. After riding my brothers Nitro turbo with a front end kit, I knew i needed to upgrade. A little too loyal to the Yamaha brand I decided to stick with it. They had a great finance offer last year so I bought a 2017 Sidewinder. The first...
Not sure what you are running for a suspension setup. I just took delivery of a 2017 sidewinder mtn on sat. I PUT 110 km on during the start of the break in period. The sled was not set up for riding from the dealer and was like riding an RX1mtn. Sounds like you need to adjust your suspension...
if your airbox is not mounted properly to the carb intake you will lose power like you are describing. be sure the airbox boots are sealed to the carbs. i use a bit of oil on the inside of the boot to help them slide on.
i took the simmons gen 2 skis of and put the stock mtn ones back on to see how it handles in the deep snow. On the trail the simmons with the dual runners are the bomb, no darting and easy to control. In the powder and the tight trails the stock skis rule. I am debating whether to cut the...
You can fit a 43 tooth with some modification. I have a 42 tooth bottom gear and a 19 tooth top gear with a 68 link chain. The gears and chain are not yamaha brand as they dont have a 42 tooth gear. I dont know where I got them but if memory serves me they are a hyvo set.
