Whatchya talking about Willis? This is just South of Moose Jaw. Check it out sometime...... :jump:

    New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

The weight and balance of a mountain sled is absolutely key. The HP put out by today's 2 stroke 800's is already more than most riders are capable of using fully. Only in big climbs and wide open areas will the extra horsepower be a big benefit. Even then, it's probably going to put you in...

    Sidewinder is FAST!!!

Don't forget that it wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer turned the wick up on the demo sleds to get a buzz going..... Yamaha is always liability conscious and I'm not sure sure they are going to deliver 120+ MPH sleds out of the box. Now what you tweak on them after you get them home...

    New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

I really like the torque numbers it makes. Should be a monster out of the hole and have the HP to pull a decent top end.

    New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

I think each line represents 20HP with the Nytro trace in the 125HP range, and the Sidewinder being just a touch over 180HP. Yamaha doesn't want the liability of a 200HP sled.

    CR Speaks before launch

It's not anything that would make me put down money at this point either. Nice motor, I love any new tech. I just know it will be significantly heavier than my RMK, and not as fun for me to ride in the mountains. Maybe some day when I can afford two sleds, a sidewinder crossover would be...

Isn't 2017 sled release date today?

Maybe for now, but I would put big bucks on that engine being a common platform for other rec vehicles in the future.

    New 2017 Yamaha Sleds...

Those are the key questions IMO. The other thing that might make a difference is if the chassis has been changed at all to fit the turbo motor. The motor placement in the Vipers doesn't look optimal to me. If drive line and engine management are all Yamaha, then that starts to become more...

    Pro rmk vs summit t3

I went with the Pro. The chassis just felt better for me. No problems so far, but I don't have a ton of miles on it yet. I can attest that it will do a 30 or 40 second WFO pull under full load in about 4 ft of pow. I'll admit I was wondering if something was going to let go by the end of...

    2015 YAMAHA SNOWMOBILES

Here's what I was getting at. I finally gave up playing the waiting game. My first non-Yamaha I've owned. My next purchase will likely be a non-Yamaha fanner for my daughter to learn and gain confidence on.

    2015 YAMAHA SNOWMOBILES

They make the best sled for you, which equates to 5% of the market and that's the market share they command. For the rest of us who don't want a big high power luxo cruiser trail sled, we are out of luck.

    2015 YAMAHA SNOWMOBILES

Dude, the M9000 is a big, front heavy, pig of a sled, just like my Nytro. They both kick your #*$&@ by the end of the day. For the casual, non-super human mountain rider, the 2 stroke competitors sleds are umpteen times easier to ride.

    2015 viper mtx just spotted

Definitely a low-to-no hype launch this year. What would everyone think about a new 600 and 800cc two stroke Mountain Max? If Yamaha comes to the conclusion that a light weight 4 stroke mountain sled isn't feasible, then maybe they will borrow new Cat DI engines too? I think you would...

    Iron Dog Vipers! Team 3

Good luck! Do you have any special plans for the no snow sections? I remember reading a few years back where a Nytro team lost a bunch of time and hurt a motor from overheating. Something about the four strokes taking much longer to cool down than two strokes once they overheat.

    2015 YAMAHA SNOWMOBILES

x3 Unless they pull a major rabbit out of their hat, there is no way a 4 stroke is on my list for my next mountain sled. I rode the 2013 offerings and the 2 strokes are just that much easier and more fun for me to ride. I don't ride enough miles for the 4 stroke longevity to matter much. I...

    Side Panel Decals

Last season, I peeled part of one of my side panel decals off while out on a ride. Afterwards, I removed the rest and the glue residue. The decal on the other side was scratched as well, so I removed it too. I was thinking about just leaving it naked, but this is what I am left with...

2012 USA market share for sleds, ATV's, motorcycles and PWC

I'm surprised Poo does that much better outside of the US.

Would you buy a new, 2-stroke Yamaha if they offered one?

Nice summary. 95% chance my next sled is a two stroke. There's too much of a gap in the fun factor between my Nytro and the 2 stroke mountain sleds. I'll put up with dealing with engine maintenance to have more fun when we hit the mountains a few times a year. If I only rode flat lands...
