    Broken bulkheads - theory

Had a little bit of a question about where to put this thread, but decided that since parts of it apply to all DB/II sleds since 03, that this would be the best place. My observations are made against a 2003RX1 and parts coming from a 2005RXW, which shares most of these parts with all DB/II...

    Aftermarket side panel bolts

Anybody know a good supplier of stainless steel allen-head bolts that match the side panel bolts? I'm short by two (from drilling them out), and the rest are shredded. I don't want any more of these crappy bolts, so yam dealer is out of the question. Something in Ontario would be best...

    ExpertX shock recalibrating (DIY)

Anyone who has actually worked on the insides of shocks.... I've been reading the expertx suspension manual, and they have a minimal writeup about recalibrating the shocks. What I've been able to determine is that to increase compression damping, add shims above the piston, and to increase...

How do I start the engine after sitting all summer?

After sitting a long time it will be hard to start because the fuel pump has dried out, which means that there will be no suction to the gas tank. The solution: force gas into the fuel pump. How to do that: Open the hood, remove the clutch cover. Locate the clear hose that is fitted onto...

    RACE REPORT

Alright, well this weekend, I *finally* had the opportunity to race against some sleds that are actually *fast*. Ok, first here's a list of all performance variables in effect on my sled; #1: Track - 144x1.25 <-- thats *supposed* to make it slower, but (???). #2: Back suspension -...

    Too much power

NEVER AGAIN. This week this overpowered sonofabi**h broke a chain, which flung around to take out both the front and back of the chaincase. $825 for parts. Fresh oil in it had about 80 miles in it, chain tension was adjusted at the same time. I have NEVER seen a chain snap before.

    Love for sure

Yep... me. My baby is smart, fast, and ooooh so beautiful... And best of all, she's got an off-switch  Went north this weekend to an...

    Broken W-Arms 03/04 - explanation

Ever notice that its the big sleds that break W-arms and not the little ones like 600's? With the high rate of damaged W-arms on the RX1, I have seen a number of people hypothesize that its the additional weight of the sled that causes the W-arms to break... that it is somehow related to the...

    Wearbars - Simmons.

The original wearbars on these lasted about as long as a mercury outboard. I'd rather not replace with more of the same crap. Need suggestions about manufacturers and model numbers for optimal wearbars for these skis.

    Jackshaft bearing

I think that this is an important one to report on... How to change: Remove secondary clutch, remove clip holding bearing onto frame. Disassemble CHAINCASE and remove upper sprocket. Block of wood and a sledgehammer... POUND that sucker out. Pound against the chaincase side of the shaft...

    Transfer enhancement kit

Judging from the pictures, it appears to just replace the control rods with straps, but a couple points in the description suggest otherwise, particularly "seven adjustments allow you to dial in the exact amount of ski lift you've been looking for", and "slow speed ride on the trail is actually...

    05 monoshock

In looking carefully at the geometry of the mono skid, its clearly a DECREASING rate suspension. Anyone thinking of an 05 with an M10, don't spend your money too quickly - I think you'll be surprised.

    Speed of 600

Just for laughs, I took a look at A/C's website to take in the lies they spew. I came across this: http://www.arcticcat.com/snowmobiles/t6 ... 660_MY.pdf There is one thing in there that REALLY is nagging at me. It says 1/4 mile SXVenom 77.0 mph. Now here's the thing.... Back in December...

    Bad weekend #2

This sucks. The weekend my RX1 is out of service due to waiting on parts for track replacement, I figured that my old sled would be ok. Not so. Got about 20 km and the fixed sheave on the primary blew apart. 3 pieces - one went through the hood, one went through the steel chassis, the other just...

    What do you call a 144 RX1?

More than a Warrior, but less than a mountain. I've got a 144 relocation kit on its way from Tom Hartman. I've got a 9923 Ripsaw on its way also. Track available tomorrow, but won't have the extension kit until Monday, so I miss out on one weekend of RX1... at least I've got old reliable...

    Weekend from hell.

Started out fine. Plenty of snow (sortof). Then somebody lost all his papers. 5 minutes later, COPS. Standing around in the cold (-30 ish) for half hour. Next day, go out for ride, buddy blows the splines on his jackshaft. Thats what I get for riding with a skidoo. Later that day, other buddy...

    All suspension updates.

After waiting all summer, I finally got to test out the suspension tweaks I did to my RX1 121. Changes as follows; Front: 11mm, longer links. 130 straight rate springs set at no preload simmons flexi skis. Rides like its on razor blades. Corners so flat that I can agressively...
