DynoTech's AmSnow Adirondack Shootout Apex dyno results

"when I replaced the original sf901 electronics with new 902 stuff, I had my own HTG1000 triple edge on the dyno. 225hp with early electronics, 225hp with the new electronics. I have the original absorber, and original torque measuring strain gauge. If I hang xxx lb of torque calibration weight...

DynoTech's AmSnow Adirondack Shootout Apex dyno results

I tried to find one of those yellow smiley face things with tongue-in-cheek to no avail. but most of you surely got it.

DynoTech's AmSnow Adirondack Shootout Apex dyno results

After seeing Mike's post about the MIA shootout article last night I checked and it was deleted--I thought it may have been some internet hacker employed by Yamaha, but it was some glitch that my webguy rectified this AM, exactly as originally uploaded by me.

DynoTech's AmSnow Adirondack Shootout Apex dyno results

There are some well-meaning people posting stuff on this site that is incorrect. Those of you DTR members who follow what I really do know that when I replaced the original sf901 electronics with new 902 stuff, I had my own HTG1000 triple edge on the dyno. 225hp with early electronics, 225hp...

Dynotech Reseach has the # on the 2011 Apex

you guys who have not read the tech sidebar by Kevin Cameron in my article don't understand Exup. It's only designed to add torque and hp at low-midrange RPM--when it opens it's straight through like an open collector. When it's closed, choked down at low-mid RPMs airflow CFM is INCREASED, and...

OSP Jim coming to dyno tune Friday A.M.

My dyno knock sensor is mono, plumbed into the left ear of my Harbor Freight $2.99 ear protectors. Yes I hear every click of deto and yes I knew OSP was clicking at 537 and on the edge making my armpits even wetter, so I'm confident that OSP with very slightly different tuning/ more octane will...

OSP Jim coming to dyno tune Friday A.M.

This will be good fun, can be seen on my Live Screaming Video dyno cams--one cam in the engine room and another cam in the control room. Begin hooking up at 9am, be running by 10am. I'm hoping that we can bug Jim into going for gonzo HP, maybe exceeding Glenn Hall/ D&D's 537 HP DTR record?

    Apex w/Boondocker Nitrous Dyno results

DynoTech Research 8 Apollo Dr. Batavia, NY 14020 585-993-2777 2 miles from exit 48 I-90 (the toll collectors can hear open pipe sled engines singing on the dyno on calm days)

Has anyone tuned with a motec?

when the UB kids' honda 600 4 cyl achieved "choked" airflow, I'm assuming that's air velocity = speed of sound (some particular SCFM) through the 20mm restrictor, why wouldnt the yamaha do the same? assuming BSAC is similar for both engines, wouldnt your turbo be able to yank hard enough on...

Has anyone tuned with a motec?

some years ago I loaned my dyno facility to engineering students at UB(Buffalo NY) for a similar project, using a honda 600 4cylinder with a turbo and that awful 20mm restrictor. As I recall, that engine peaked at about 100hp at very low revs with the 20mm restrictor. Air velocity through the...

OneStopPerformance coming to dyno tune on Monday 7/21

Syracuse race got monsooned out, OSP Jim and crew were wet and all mud so they headed home instead of dyno testing/ tuning. Will try again next time by.

OneStopPerformance coming to dyno tune on Monday 7/21

OneStopJim M is coming to Batavia on his way back from Syracuse drags for a morning tuneup live on DynoCams. Fine tuning the standalone EFI on an RX1 turbo drag sled. Should be great fun.

    260 HP !!

Dan this is surely dyno telepathy, your post coincided with mine. Fuel pressure is even more important than turbo boost pressure.

Just one more Apex fuel pump whimping out after some miles

Today I had another TC Apex, this time a Bender/ Full Power kit that had suddenly severe reliability issues trail riding on Canadian (not that it's necessarily any worse than ours) pump gas, the owner Sudbury madman Dan brought it to Justin at Full Power an hour southwest of here, Justin...

    05 RX1 MPI S/C @10 lbs. lean at 6000 rpm ????

sometimes a rich burble will show lean on wideband I think because of O2 coming past sensor from misfire. Misfire usually happens richer that 10/1 and leaner than 17/1 or thereabouts. one other issue we had with lean sneezing HD carbs was the sneeze can cause small tears in the slide...

How much ??? (stock fuel system)

sorry forgot to include boost pressure rise inches of hg (2 inches of hg = 1 psig). left out hp to give fuel flow better resolution

How much ??? (stock fuel system)

heres one of Art Andre's dyno runs, note how fuel flow A begins dandy, but then mysteriously drops as revs climb!? I would think if pump was bad, it would be bad at low RPM but can't figure out why it drops as revs climb. Maybe some voltage drop at pump as revs climb? Now I need to go back and...

How much ??? (stock fuel system)

Hammer I poked around in the data on DTR and didn't see a listing of gross fuel flow from pump to rail (that's the FUEL A reading and the bypass FUEL B gets subtracted to give us net fuel used). When I get to the dyno today Ill look on database to see if I can find that on Art Andre's SC Apex...

    05 RX1 MPI S/C @10 lbs. lean at 6000 rpm ????

on the Harley blowthrough turbo CV carbs it was just the opposite of that--if slides open too high too quickly, there's not enough signal at needle jet to draw adequate fuel even with skinnyest needle. So we had to force the slides to stay low, longer yet be wide open at peak revs. This worked...

    05 RX1 MPI S/C @10 lbs. lean at 6000 rpm ????

Just saw this post, reminds me of tuning turbo Harleys when we did carbed Aerocharger kits for the Vtwins with stock CV carbs. We used to cure lean midrange with CV carbs by stretching the stock springs about 5%-10% more free length. Remember boosted blow-through carbs have air velocity about...
