I did something similar. My RS Nytro started life as a 121 proaction ck. I stretched it to a 144 with 12" tip up rails and had similar problems. I ended up with a 136 mono 2 and added 4" extensions so that I could reuse my 144 track and tunnel extension. I had to replace the mounts to accept the...
Hey Redbeard, thanks for posting this.
I set out to make one of these but I don't have a hole saw that big. I could't cut a circle with a hacksaw so I ended up using a piece of 1-1/4 flat stock instead. Given that I have only blown one belt in 24K miles (the first and only aftermarket belt I...
Well, I did about 450 miles over the weekend in varying conditions and all I can say is these clutches are the real deal! I know my old clutch was past due but I was pleasantly surprised by the difference in performance. Engagement is smooth at just over 3000 RPM and full throttle is right at...
Well, my original RS Nytro clutch finally hit 40K KM or about 24K miles. Basically, everything needs to be replaced and the shives are wearing so I decided to go with a new Power Bloc PB-80 model 1100-0222 primary clutch after reading Redbeard’s report on his Vec and Apex (thanks for that). The...
Yep, I've read a lot of threads where the aftermarket ones failed for no apparent reason. Also, my theory for what can cause a stater to fail is a weak battery because the stater and charging system attempts to bring the battery to full charge and can't
Maybe I'm just lucky but I have 39,000 KM...
A buddy of mine lost his stater last year which is never convenient. This got me thinking: If my stater failed and I knew about it as soon as it happened, I would have a much better chance of making it out of the woods before the sled died!
My first thought was to build something that would...
I'm having an issue with this skid so I thought that I would revive my original post. I've spent a lot of time researching this but can't find the answer that I'm looking for...
All in all, this skid works awesome for my riding style, big miles, long days. The issue that I'm having is that I...
The best combination for price and function that I found was Yamaha mountain skis and Bergsrtom 8" triples. I did find that the ski savers made them very dicey on crust so I removed them and still found that they perform well on the trail
I've heard that one of the first symptoms of a weak battery in a Vector is a cooked stator. I don't know if it's true or if this applies to an Apex but it's worth thinking about
Which one is the w arm, front or back? I know my back one has straight tubes on the outside and the inner ones are "j" shaped. Most monos that I've seen had all 4 tubes "j" shaped
Just north of Moncton
If you look closely at the track adjuster, it's an aftermarket one that came with the 4" TracksUSA extensions but you can also see the holes where the original adjusters mounted which were also mounted on the rails
It has a coil-over and came with the tunnel adjuster if that tells you anything. I didn't install the tunnel adjuster after reading about all the broken cables... and it came with a broken cable. I flipped the shock over and now I can adjust it with a #1 robertson screwdriver
I'm starting to think that the guy that sold it to me had the wrong information. It must have come out of a 2010 or newer Vector or 2011 or newer Apex. I'm hoping that it rides a little better than the Proaction CK that it replaced!
