Just wanted to say thanks to all the wrenchers out there in this forum that gave up great info on the Phazer. The Phazer was a good sled for me and I will miss that great gas mileage and rough trail capabilities for sure.
But I sold my 07 FX 136" this summer and went back to the 2-stroke...
I rode with powder pros for two seasons. They were excellent in my opinion! Did good on the hardpacked (better than the stockers), was awesome in POW!
Used the SLP mount for a Yamaha saddless skis, no problems.
You are so right with your complaints on your last two post. Most Nytro and Phazer owners will say the same thing. They are close, but Yamaha just doesnt want to refine it I guess.
Great news for the constant trail huggers I guess. I know that is where most of the market is. But for the on and off trail (boondockers) men, no changes, and it is very dissappointing to ME! And they havent addressed the old issues in my book. Seeing a crossover with a 1.25" track makes me...
"SRXSPEC" thanks for offering to send what I might need. As for the belt I run the stock 8GS belt on it and it is brand new. I did not want to bother with the reverse update in shims and belt change. It hits the rev limiter constantly in fresh POW because of the reduced load. I will give you a...
Cannodale my 07FX was just the opposite. I never hit the rev limiter until I installed the Ulmer clutch kit. I am even stretched to 136" with the 1.5" freeride track. You would think that the extra load would help keep it off the rev limiter but it still flirts with 12K plus. I tried messing...
I actually have a FX with the stock 18 gear in it. After I extended mine to a 136". I did some testing and actually preferred using the 17tooth. I lost about 6 mph on top. But I offtrail mostly and I am not concerned about top speed. Hope this helps.
I basically got the same set-up. But mine is a 136" with a utra Q exhaust. Anyhow, I emailed Allen and Ulmer reacing and he replied that I need to put in a yamaha 3.1 gram rivet at the tip. It should bring down the revs 600-700 rpms. Hope this helps.
I myself was just thinking the same thing last weekend. Took mine apart to check the exhaust gaskets. And was thinking I should have the two piece heat shield over the flex joints coated. Wouldnt hurt it any! At least stop some of the heat from rising and baking the plastic and rubber parts...
Personally mine hasnt broke yet (knock on wood). But this was a serious design flaw by Yamaha and they need to be held accountable. I feel sorry (and mad) every time I here of a out of warranty failure that some of you have had. I think Yamaha needs to be petitioned into court on this suspension...
