I can't get these plug boots out!

No matter how hard I pull, the plug boots are not moving. There is very little room to work with to begin with, and they have never been off in the 15 years I have owned this sled. This is an 08 Vector. I have read the suggestions here but I don't see a clear path at the moment. Any advice...

    My dumb #*$&@ today....

Me: While snowmobiling I have managed to survive deer encounters, drunk idiots, people who have run me off the trail, open water on lakes, etc. Also me: This evening I put my Vector in reverse to back it off the inclined trailer while it is still in high idle mode. It shoots out of the...

    Best Snowmobile Trip, Ever!

I live in SE Michigan, and took my oldest child (11 years of age) to Island Lake State Rec Area for snowmobiling today. It was his first real experience on his sled (1979 Enticer 340) besides riding it around my parent's yard in South Lyon, which is limited and rather boring. He absolutely...

Thinking about an upgrade - need advise

My '08 Vector has been nearly flawless during the 13,000 miles I have put on it. It really has been a great sled and I will never sell it, but am looking for something with a bit more "fun factor" and am not sure which way to go. What complicates the matter is that my kids are about the the...

Helix angles on compression driven clutches

Why do helix angles matter or make a difference on compression spring secondary clutches? Sorry, this has puzzled me for years.

    Stretched Chain

I have my chaincase apart and upon reassembly I set the chain tensioner while the chaincase cover was off. I definitely need a replacement. It is coming uncomfortably close to the reverse gear assembly with slack removed. Approximately 11k miles on stock chain. I guess that "little bit" I...

    Pure gas, non ethanol locations

https://www.pure-gas.org/maps Helpful interactive map for locations that sell non ethanol fuels. I found a station near me that I will use from now on for all of my gas powered equipment and sled. Should be good for long term storage when combined with Stabil Storage fuel treatment.

Any advise on RA cable please?

I told myself that I would never again replace the RA cable after it broke for the 4th time. Well, last week I sure could have used it on the bombed out trails in the lower UP (not yet groomed). So I ask the best and the brightest here for suggestions on how to properly route a new cable so...

    Finally my clutch is quieter.

After 11,000 miles I had the primary rebuilt by Ulmer with new bushings and plastic spider slides. Much quieter now and much tighter. It still makes the diesel sound, but now much less. I also ordered all new springs for the primary and secondary. Around $200 with shipping.

    Vintage me

This pic is from around 1986 I believe. I'm second from the left, 13 years of age. We had fun on those old sleds. The Polaris was a 1984 440 single carb with direct drive, no chaincase. It was slower than the 300 Enticer in the photo.

The best thing I have ever seen on a trail!

Antique riders were out around Newberry this week. I got a chance to sit on a piece of history. With my Cat jacket! There were 6 or 7 sleds, all rear engine, 10hp maybe?

    Carbed Engine Over Rev Protection?

Do the carbed engines have a rev limiter? I was pushing close to 9500rpm on mine at times, probably from a worn primary and older belt. Newer belt was 9100 or so. Just wondering if I need to worry when it revs that high.

    Another Vibrational Observation

Sled is running good, new fuel pumps solved the fuel starvation issues I experienced last year. I started to notice a severe vibration through the bars and boards at atound 70mph. Felt like an engine that was misfiring on one cylinder. But that is not what it is...it just feels like that. It...

    Replacement Track Question

I thought I would ask this question now rather than in September since there is a lot more traffic on this site during the winter months. Stock Ripsaw has 10,000 miles on it and I would like to replace it before next season. I will not be using studs. My tunnel protectors have been removed...
