We took my son's 06 Apex apart and found that the bad donut had a loose clamp. All the rest were OK. Had to grind the stop off a bit to make the clamp tighten (read about that trick on another post on TY). Maybe clamp tightness is part of the problem.

Oil I use 0W 40 Mobile 1 and get it at Walmart.

Are these available from Power Madd?

Mine are the collett communicator 900s. They work well with minimal interference. Actually saved our lives a few times!! Groomer tone is great to let you know they are close.

I had that problem on my 2001 SXR 700. Replaced the CDI and the problem was solved ($400 warm hands!!!)

I did the mod on my 06 Apex ER and it works as advertised. 2 bars is plenty!!! Thanks for the info on how to do this.
