I know Garrett is the big name right now but the Aerocharger looks like a nice setup especially for a trail sled with being able to adjust the vanes for boost control.
I asked this question over on Dootalk and they didn't seem to really like them but I figured I'd ask it here since the Yamaha guys have been running turbo 4 strokes longer. I know they're more money than a Garrett kit but I have a chance to buy a complete kit from a dealer for less than a...
Glad to see I may have helped a few people save their motors. I've been told the Yamaha filter is a little shorter which would help with clearance but it's still a bad design with that bar placed right underneath it. My sled had the oil changed by the previous owner and had an aftermarket filter...
The XP doesn't have a nun that was the REV. The XP has what they call an "S" module that I've been told is much easier to replace compared to the nun. I've had both an XP and Nytro and neither one would bend easy.
I was thinking the front shocks would be ok with some different valving but I was wondering how different the rear shocks are on the 2 models. I guess I'll probably need to stick with an RTX for the type of riding I do. Thanks.
I'm not planning on getting a 2008 I was just saying that's what I had. Will the standard FX Nytro take some serious trail pounding or should I find a 2009 or newer RTX?
I had the 2008 RTX and it seemed to take the rough blown out trails pretty good but seemed a little harsh on the small stuff. I may be buying one to put the MPI SC back on so I was wondering how they ride and handle compared to the RTX? Thanks.
8lbs of boost on a turbo is not the same as 8lbs on a supercharger. I ran 9lbs on my SC on pump fuel with no issues and none of the heat problems that come with a turbo. If you're riding trails I would take the SC for the throttle response.
A buddy of mine has an XTX and may be interested in my supercharger but he's wondering if anyone else is running one and how they liked it? Does it hookup pretty good with the 144 and does it handle any better off trail? He says currently he really notices the extra weight of the XTX off trail...
In your picture it doesn't quite look like my Super Q which was perfectly round in shape where yours looks more oval in shape. That thing looks pretty beat. How old is it? Where did you buy it from?
Hopefully you didn't throw a stud through it. Mine was cracked really bad at the welds and had surface rust showing after a season and they took care of me. I did have to send it back and wait for them to build a new one since it was summer time.
Just call the guys at MPI, there's not as much involved in getting it setup as you think there is and once its set you can for the most part just put gas in and drive it. Turbo's can be a little more to setup and create more heat but the SC can run the stock exhaust header like mine with or...
