ball joint

I was working on replacing my lower a-arm ball joints and have questions around once the new ones are in how stiff are they supposed to be. One I pressed in (and it did press in evenly) i can't move will my fingers but if i put a bolt in it moves but stiffly. I had trouble with this one...
