0w40 amsoil @ -50 will start with a good battery

the only other issue after -40 the gas does not want to vapourize , we have had to pour hot water across the carbs then they will fire right away !!

This is what I was replying to...w/Sea Foam, Yes I agree using lighter oil or Syn products will crank easier...man it doesn't take much to get some people going...

hard starting

I could not help but to post due to your locale and type of riding. first 03 batterys where better and a boost charger is a must when riding alone I do not know what oils you can buy up there but some form of sync oil will help you spin in lower temps. I follow the the deer just like you I believe. By the way are you Inuit? I ran into some really cool guys in Barter Island and they invited to Inuvik to hunt the with them for a year they where using those really large frieght boats with 40 johnsons and more gas than thought possible to bring along with them. I think they said it was like 750 miles across the top on the artic sea this was back in 1975 oh to be young and up north again I am now married to a native gal and have four kid on the bearing sea and hunt and fish for a living and fix yamaha sleds and sell parts well good trail to will never forget those kind offer to follow the deer and by the way howfar are you from copper river county husky country? pm me email me would you if you would like to talk real artic usage of four stroke yamahas sub zero temps irondod rtx out

Irondog

Not an inuk, just one of the Queen's Cowboy's up here for the work. I'm right in Inuvik.

The caribou have suffered badly over the last few so there's a hunting moratorium on them. Still hope to get a moose some time this winter with a friend who's been here long enough to becomea resident.
