these are the mods that you should do instal 9 tooth drivers gear up to a 23 tooth top gear and put rivets in the stk clutch arms (note that yamaha has a flatlander package that includes the rivets and top gear) as well as an 1 1/4 track. note this set up is proven and works well

40-23 for trail riding is awesome, but off-trail is just to high.

Here in Quebec, Stock Mountain arrive with 40-23 for 1.74 of ratio

The user on this site named Kmer has a mountain sled and he rides it on the trails. I believe he bought a second track with shorter lugs that he uses when trail riding, and puts on the 2" lug track when he heads out west.

I remember the other thing he said was that the handelbars and grab bar make it difficult to read the speedo when on the trails.
