I was replacing the bearing on lower clutch side and I'm sure my new bearing isn't pressed in far enough. When looking underneath I see a gap that wasn't there with the old bearing but I can't get it to seat any farther?? Does this look normal or needs to. On on further?

Yes looks good,
Put the outside cover on and it should sit flat against the tunnel.

I always leave the set screws loose. I put on the outside plate tightening the three nuts equally. Then I tighten the set screws. This works unless you have the gears out of the chain case
