I noticed that the seat cover on the 07 Apex has an additional row of stitching on top forward of the trunk that my 06 does not have. The stitching in that area on my 06 has pulled apart, and I was wondering if I would be beter off using the 07 cover with the additinal stitching as a replacement?

If you are going to replace your cover I would say yes. That extra band is designed to keep the slack out of the material and is why it was added on the '07s according to Yamaha.
