My sled has just over 4000 miles on it. Not sure if this was the cause of my problems but the first start of this year we had the gas line blow off where it connects to the injection system. Basically, it wasn't installed fully with the clip and once pressurized it blew off. We fixed it and the sled started but ran rough. I'm wondering if the motor starving for fuel could have caused the issues.

Dude, I ran those plugs for a few years...changed to new stock ones and still the same problem.

Wish it was just plugs!! That would be an easy fix. I'd like to hear more about the "injector timing".

jay...went as low as -25 on the C0 settings and no better. Can't see going lower...just masking something else if it does get better.

Really, that's too bad. Watching the videos I posted which one is your sled running similar too?

Mine sounds like CO value at 0...although yours seems to stumble a bit below 1000RPM...mine doesn't go quite that low.

Not sure if this will help but once you have your CO setting low, like -25, try adjusting your idle. When set at zero, mine stumbled and the idle adjust seemed to have very little effect. Once I set my CO settings low, the idle control seemed to work better. Might not help but worth a try.

apex55 said:Injector timing? I had a similiar problem thought it was just bad gas, brought it to my dealer(Cully's Ranch) and he said it was an injector problem. He retimed them which he said alot of dealers don't have the equipment to do it. Told me to also run startron and it has been fine now for 2 years.
Anyone else have any experience with injector timming? Also, what is startron?

Startron is the fuel additive used to help combat the the high ethonal in the 10% gas. I was originally adding dry gas, which is alcohol based just like the ethonal, but this added to the problem. Just add a cap full per tank.

As far as the injector timing goes here is the only reference I could find for a timing tool.

Here is the link to my dealer who did the service. They run drag sleds and are real knowledgeable about motors. Larry is the owner.

Well found out the issue and you were correct, by adjusting the CO values really low I was masking something else. The check valve on the tank for the return fuel line was partially plugged and or not working properly. Tihs was causing the fuel rail pressure to be too high and in turn the sled was running rich, especially when idling. Check out this post.

The only reason we even found the issue was that the fuel line blew off. Initially the sled was just working strange but wasn't blocked bad enough to cause the line to blow off. We figured it was something with a sensor. A few things that were noticed with this Apex 1. Stumble at idle 2. Running rich 3. Hard on fuel 4.Sometimes would stall out.

Did you ever figure this issue out?? I'm running CR10EK's. Start sled up runs fine, runs at 2000RPM then slowly goes down to 1500RPM when at operating temp. When at operating temp as soon as I start blipping the throttle the idle goes down to 1000RPM. It never recovers. Could this be TORS?? Seafoam in the gas. Throttle cable adjusted properly. Like I said it runs fine until I start blipping the throttle then its 1000RPM and never above. It makes this sound like something kicks in then goes to 1000RPM.

Ive seen the return line issue cause the same idle problems a few times but its been after someone has done work on the sled an caused it. But oddly enough I have had my sled(07 apex) idle drop all by itself once or twice in its life time then return slowly to 1500 rpm??? this was at full operating temp at a stop on the trail. never caused any running problems though. Sled bone stock except for cr10 spark plugs. I do know that start-up (cold) calibration is very rich... this is normal with almost all apexs , they will all "sputter"(90% of the time) when first started cold then settle down to a cleaner sound. I always start mine and never touch the throttle until it cycles from its high initial idle back down to its mormal 1500+/- rpm this a few minutes after the temp light gos out.Starting them cold and slapping the throttle does'nt help things at all ....let the sled do its thing.I have a friend that revs his on a cold start and has fouled it three diffrent times.Got him to leave it go and has not fouled another. I know this is not the problem your haveing just thought I would share..

throttle position sensor??? i've read a few posts where it starts working poorly and is not reading position down low,(throttle boddies closed at idle) My RTX is showing signs of all these above probs... will start fine, idle at 2500 cold, slowly drop to 1500 with a few sputters, then once hot will sometimes drop to 1000 then sometime jsut stall. especially after longer higher speed runs... once it stalls, i will just start back up.. sometime having to touch throttle.

Revised my post to be a bit more specific. The issue is once its at operating temp, I blip the throttle and then the sled starts idling at 1000RPM. It doesn't recover until I restart the sled, then as soon as I hit the gas goes back to idling at 1000RPM.
