I posted this under the Tech talk as well.. but I figured some of you may be able to help me out...

I have a 2006 Attak with about 7K miles on it. I took it up to Canada to ride this weekend, and had an issue. After putting on about 250 flawless miles, I brought it to the garage to park for the night. Right before I pulled it in, I killed it to help a friend out. A few minutes later, when I tried to start it, I got nothing. The engine turned over, the fuel pump cycled.. just like normal, but nothing happened as far as firing.

About a half hour later, I tried again. This time, it sputtered, like it was going to start. After I let off the key, I tried again, and it started. I ran it for about 3 minutes and shut it down for the night. I just chalked it up to be a fluke.

The next morning, when I went to go riding, (300 mile loop planned), the same thing happened, but this time, the sled did not start at all.

I ended up spending the day troubleshooting with no luck at all. All the sled does not is spit and sputter when I turn the key.. almost seems like it is back firing. I am looking for help. Here is what I have done so far:

1. Checked the relays. They all work. I swapped them all with my buddies Apex that ran. My fuel pump works.. I can hear the return line spit fuel back into the tank.

2. Pulled the 2 easy plugs... They were both a nice brown color.. which means to me that they must be good still.. right?

3. Bypassed the TORS.. no dice.

4. Drove back home to NY early, because my sled won't start.

My plan tomorrow is to pull all the plugs and replace them. I really dont see what that is going to buy me, though.. since the 2 I pulled looked good. Could it be a bad tank of gas, ecu, something else?

PM/email/respond to this post.. I am at a loss right now. I am trying to keep positive on this one.. I really want to love my sled, but this one hurt....Thanks for all of your help...

Bad gas? Clogged fuel filter in tank? Just a thought.

Did it throw any codes on the cluster? Yellow light flashing? Engine symbol flashing?

I'd start with the easy...drain gas and put in fresh, change the fuel filter, and put in some new plugs.

Also, check each coil to make sure you have spark on each one, since you are in there anyhow

Yeah. I am planning on draining the gas today. How do you change the fuel filter? No blinking error lights or messages.

Fuel filter is located on bottom of fuel pump. It is a fabric-looking sock thingy. Fuel pump is an assembly bolted into fuel tank from the top. I would say it at least warrants inspection. I am not sure of the part # for a replacement filter is available, as I didnt see one in the fiche breakdown, just the fuel pump with the filter attached. maybe someone else will chime in with a part #?

Keep in mind, if you remove the fuel pump, you may (or may not) need a new o-ring or gasket for reassembly. Never did one myself, so not 100% sure.

I'm betting you stator is fried, mine went around the same mileage and it is common once these sleds get a few miles on them. They start hard if at all and sound like they are missing a cylinder. There is a post on here about how to check a stator, it's fast and easy to check so I'd give it a try.

Is there a way you can post the link to the stator check? All I can find is the spec list.

id look at the tps i replaced mine 3 times on a 06 gt

Duste, it was the stator. Just got it in the mail today... FINALLY.. and popped it in. Sled fired right up like nothing ever happened...What a bummer this ordeal has been...
