First time changing the oil on this new to me machine. Both the owner's manual and maintenance manual state 8.5 fl/oz. I bought the yamaha brand in the exact 8.5 oz. However, unless i'm mistaken, it fills it to the full level on the dipstick for the non-reverse markings. I'm not seeing any specifications for the reverse models in either book. What gives? Typically i've seen that the chaincase fluid levels on the cats are more for the reverse models, not less?? Any insight? Thanks.

On the back side of the dipstick it shows the reverse level which is slightly lower than the non reverse

Always used 8oz to 8 1/2oz'z in my 08 Vector with reverse. I based this decision on info I have found on here and what I was told.

been running 8.5oz for 16,000 miles (of course i change it every year)
the dip stick is a topic of confusion for many including myself.
it states on the top of the belt shield the amount as well as some other specs.
if you fill it to the reverse line i think you are waaaay to low.

Sure enough, belt guard says 8.5ozs. regardless of the goofy dipstick. I'll run the 8.5ozs as everyone said. Thanks for the help.
