06 RS Nytro carb float adjustment

Maybe someone can help me with adjusting my carb floats. I did a search but couldn't find what I'm looking for

The specs call for 16mm between the bottom of the float to the flange that the bowl mounts to. I found general information on taking this measurement but every example I could find shows a float that is flat on the bottom. My floats have a thicker section (see pic). So... where do I take the measurement from?

I found an alternate method that said to simply set the floats parallel to the bowl flange. However, as you can see in the pic, my floats don't sit parallel. If I sit the float parallel, I measure 16mm between the flange and the thinner part of the float. Could they be this far out of adjustment?

Float Height: measure at the opposite side from the needle valve.
